Probably aye, because he was still slow to react and caught out, whatever the outcome. Penalty or goal. Regardless of Lustig also being at fault if Ambrose is switched on he can cut that ball out.

He could easily have avoided contact with the guy. Michael Stewart made this point in the studio yesterday. Instead of trying to avoid him Efe being Efe runs in a straight line making no attempt to do...well anything really and gives the guy the chance to be tripped up.

He wasn't "winning balls as usual" either. We had only played about 20 mins and County were finding their way into the game.

The whole piece of defending was *. From him and Lustig.

Aye, he didn't even make a challenge. It was a nothing, I'll just run in to the guy..

If he'd of tried to stick a foot out, he'd probably of got the ball. It woulda looked better than what that was he was trying to do yesterday anyway..

He turned a corner with us and put in an excellent run of form. But he left because he was homesick, so I assume that's a non-starter.

I am seriously concerned for some peoples eyesight if they think that was a penalty. Very very very minimal contact if there was any.

    Scandalous decision.

You obviously didn't see the Watford goal at the weekend vs Forest!

    Definite contact.

Penalty. I'm seriously concerned for you if you think it wasn't. Clutching at straws.

That is all that is needed. The guy was going at pace, Ambrose collided with his knee, and Schalk had every right to go down.

This is straight out of the Andy Walker book of nonsense and it is this kind of attitude that allows the modern game to be blighted by cheats. I could not disagree more with the premise that 'there was minimal contact so he has the right to go down'. No. You go down if you have your legs taken out from under you or if you lose your balance. If you aren't knocked off your feet, you are diving. There is no way the level of contact between Ambrose's knee and the Ross County player was enough to bring him down. The boy went down because he knew Craig Gordon was getting to the ball first so he thought he'd have a go at swindling the referee instead. Craig Thomson, being the total * * that he is, duly obliged.

You don't know if it was enough to knock him off balance or not though do you? What we do know for a fact, is that there was contact made between Ambrose and Schalk. When you are running at pace, it doesn't take much to knock you out of your stride. Why was Ambrose even making contact with the player? He made no contact with the ball, but made contact with the player. It's a penalty and a red card. Had it been at the other end, and Thomson hadn't gave it, what would you have thought then?

Yes I do know there was not enough contact to bring him down because I have watched it over and over again and freeze framed it several times at the point 'contact' was supposed to have been made. I repeat, no way was there enough contact made to bring the Ross County player down. He dived.

If it had happened at the other end I would have taken the penalty but I would have been on here saying the Celtic player dived.

I disagree. Ambrose stupidly ran into Schalk when he should have allowed him to go through and hope that he missed. He couldn't win the ball, and he must have known he couldn't touch the player.

If the same thing happened at the other end, and Thomson doesn't award a penalty, I have a feeling that the ones suggesting it was a dive would be taking a different viewpoint.

It's a "modern penalty" no doubt. Efe should have been more clever, he basically cost us the game. We were had so much control of the game until his moment of madness. Thank goodness we have 3 other CBs who look far better, or at least don't make such stupid decisions.

    Don't need to.

It's a penalty. If that's the other end I'd want it given for us and a red card to go with it.
Guaranteed that whole Celtic end would be screaming for it.

If you feel differently fair enough but I don't agree at all.

If that was wee Leigh at the other end, I would not be screaming for a penalty. I mean what do you think of corners? Pushing, shoving the whole shebang and no penalty would be given, generally. Yet a penalty could be given for a defender not being goalside essentially? Ridiculous in my opinion.
