Yes, he was solid on Friday.

But it's still Ambrose. I'm not an "Ambrose hater", I wish the big guy all the luck in the world but he's cost us dearly too many times in the past.

He's not going to suddenly "keep it simple" and cut out the horrible errors should he be playing again next season in Europe - its little to do with keeping it simple but more to do with moments of poor concentration, panic and stupidity.

I feel for the big guy and yes he is fine in the league but he can't be counted on for where we ultimately want to go. Just like any player in his position, he's already forfeited his chances to be trusted at that level, and no amount of solid SPL performances should override that.

Look Cook, I'm not going to go through all this again. I've done it a million times in this thread:56:. I don't rate the guy and I've made it clear numerous times, you know that anyway.

All I'm saying is, it's one or two games. People need to settle. This happens everytime with Ambrose in particular.

Efe is great backup for the league doubt we could get an other Centerback who would be happy to be possibly 4th choice Centerback at the club with his ability

    * ever playing him in Europe though or at RB that's the stuff of nightmares as a backup Centerback he's absolutely fine and provides good entertainment can't help but like him

    Well said.

Unless Efe goes on a crazy run of dominating 10/10 performances then my opinion of him not being good enough for Celtic will not change.

Plenty of players make mistakes thats football..Look at Johanson or lustig for example, two players that consistently give the ball away or lose a goal through sloppy defending ...where is their criticism?
Or how about even Gordon ?

Where's his howls and boos everytime he * up and costs us goals that put us out of Europe...

Or how about Izzy ?We probably would have won the Ajax game if it wasnt for him losing the head.

Even recently Simonovic gave away a penalty that eventually cost us 3 points.

Effe is nowhere near as bad as people make out on here.

    Aye, agree *..

Still wouldn't want him starting in a vital CL qualifier..

Vital, and Efe starts sends shivers tbh..

He's an excellent squad player tho.

Efe isn't even close to being good enough to play for Celtic. I find it hard to believe some people still can't accept that.

He's deserves credit when he plays well and has been very good since covering for Boyata. I find it hard to believe fans can't give a Celtic player credit when it's due.

I've given him credit when he's played well for us several times but I don't think that makes him good enough. He is an accident waiting to happen.

I don't think he's been very good since covering for Boyata. He hasn't made any major * ups but that's the least you'd expect from a Celtic defender against Scottish opposition.

He shouldn't be anywhere near the side and hopefully won't with the new centre half coming in. I never have faith in us keeping a clean sheet with him on the pitch.

We've not lost since he has started covering for Boyata..

Efe has bags of pace and Simunovic looks more comfortable with that pace as cover.

His partnership with Wilson is also evidence that he can defend in the CL, don't get me wrong, I wouldn't have him in ahead of a fit Boyata, but he seems to be trying to seize his chance.

    And fair play to him.

Jozo has been the common denominator, him and Boyata are a good partnership as well since Boyata has plenty covering speed and also a bit stronger than Efe.
Efe can be a lot more comfortable on the ball though when he's confident and keeps it simple where as you can tell Boyata gets nervy.

Happy to have them both as cover if this Erik guy comes in.

“I was actually really surprised to get the man of the match award on Friday night because I thought Efe was outstanding,” said Griffiths. “ Efe is a guy who has come in for so much stick from opposition fans and even from our own fans but he is a big guy who wears his heart on his sleeve and I am so pleased for him that he has had a good wee run.

“He puts his head where it hurts, he gives his all and he is a guy who never moans, never complains about anything. He just gets on with it and he is a great guy to have in the team and around the dressing room. He was brilliant for us up at Tannadice and hopefully he can stay in now.

“I have so much respect for him. He just gets on with it despite being aware sometimes of what is being said about him. He was one of the first to congratulate me on the 50 goals and he is a great guy and a great professional.”

Credit where it is due, he was the best player on the park on Friday, followed by Lustig in my opinion. However, it still doesn't change the fact that he cannot be trusted. The Fenerbahce game was the final straw.

    Cute.

However I'd still punt him. Sentiment goes out the window :smiley-laughing002:

I don't just not rate him for his obvious, glaring mistakes in games.

I don't rate him because often I see very little defensive ability from him in games, I just don't feel comfortable with the guy at centre half now, thats the crux of it.

Even when we are strolling he often has at least one or two hairy moments. It's not natural.

If we play him at the top level again he will cost us. Guaranteed. We need to find a better partnership, hopefully the SS will be that.
