In my opinion he is a fine player - A few bad performances shouldn't result in fans writing him off.

Like I said I don't think he is a bad player. Just isn't better than Wilson or Mulgrew - Wanyama, Brown, Kayal and Ledley - or Lustig and Matthews.

He is fine for our squad. He is an option. I'd have no problem with him playing a big Champions League game.

For me, he has all the attributes to become an excellent defensive midfielder. I would play him there instead of central defender or right back, especially if Wanyama leaves the club.

I'd love to see the guy change my mind if he started playing regularly in midfield.

But he's never going to be a competent defender.

A nothing game perhaps but he looked very poor against said farmers and postmen.

Would not be upset if he was nowhere near our first XI next season.

He could have played in a potato sack, the end result would have been the same.

Is this what we have become now? Sign players, keep them for 6 months until the supporters have rid them of their confidence and sell them on?

If he were played in his proper position he wouldn't have to :50:

It's been longer than that.. I actually think Ambrose is a decent player but his concentration is so bad and he needs to focus more, otherwise I doubt Lennon will put up with him much longer. Lenny was already annoyed with Ambrose that when he overslept and missed the bus, and he subbed him off at half time once for putting in a dire performance, think it was at home to Dunfermline. Really needs to get his head straight fast

    Good Question.

It's definetly not right-back though, he just isnt comfortable there and doesnt know what to do. The only reason he got in the African Cup team of the Tournament playing there, was because he caught the eye by skinning * and playing good passes, wasnt anything to do with his performances in that position as he never defended much and he never went up the park like a normal right-back either.

His best attributes for me are dribbling, ball control, passing, vision and ability to turn a player or take the ball on either foot. You'd usually associate those with a playmaker or attacking midfielder but if he was that he probably wouldnt be playing in defence.

He's probably be best suited to playing there

    Forster
    Lustig Wilson Mulgrew Izaguirre
    Wanyama
    Ambrose Ledley
    Forrest Hooper Commons

Where he can have freedom to run with the ball and roam more, without it causing defensive problems. And he is good at slipping balls through to players or holding onto the ball under pressure where its of more use than playing in defence.

For me? Centre mid all day long. He was a powerhouse in his debut against Raith but he has also played well at centre half. The problem is he is that lax on the ball when in defensive positions he becomes a bombscare, that's not the case when he's carrying from middle to front.

That being said he was one of the best players at the AFCON at right back and is lauded almost universally there, I would say a game against Tahiti can be written off he's played much better against much better players.
