Seems out of his depth in Europe?

He scored the goal that took us into the last 16 two seasons ago. And he scored the goal that kick started our comeback to get into the group stages last year.

He was also in the teams for all Ronny's European wins so far.

He's one of our best players in Europe.

 

Was told by a guy I don't know that well on twitter that Deila thinks Commons has been cheating on his wife. He thinks it's affecting his form and mental state.

 

Commons just like Stokes, is a completely different playing from domestic football to European stuff.

He alot of the time actually adds zilch to our side on a European night - gives the ball away, sloppy touches, wild shots. Doesn't cope well at all with the dramatic change in time you get on the ball in Europe.

Although he can actually score the odd goal for us in Europe unlike Stokes, so he's marginally better in that sense than Stokes.

 

That's such a bollocks post. Argue the merits of a point don't just take * wee digs because people have a different opinion than yourself. It just makes you sound like a *

He's too slow in Europe - he's exposed. Mulgrew is another who fails to make the transition. Atrocious. His set pieces used to be vital but then he somehow forgot how to deliver a decent ball.

Definitely agree with this.

The tempo needed most of the time in European games just isn't there with Mulgrew, Stokes and Commons.

 

To be honest he's right mate, the total disregard for his previous years form on the back.of one away game (where we had to shore up after the legia debacle) is frightening..

Is it *. The merits are he has scored 32 goals last season, a lot from midfield and cost * hardly anything and that's right bang there in the post if you'd care to look.

I like commons but hes too slow for ronnies style would much rather mcgregor be played in his position and turn him into 20 goal a season midfielder. We have a really good young player in mcgregor who could be easily better than commons if given enough game time at this stage in his career.

So shift him from the position he's earning his game time into another one where he is the focal point of the team?

 

It's not a total disregard for his previous form. A lot of people seem to agree that while he is good at an SPFL level, but his first touch and lack of pace make him a liability in Europe. This 'after one game' argument does my head in too. People tend to form opinions over watching the player over time and not off one game, last season in the CL Commons looked short of it too.
