Kris Commons

McGregor has been excellent on the right. Can't see him being as effective through the middle to be honest.

 

It's not his natural position which makes some of his performances even more impressive..

He's been great there but his natural position is through the middle.

 

Will be interesting to see if he starts tonight we can't write him off because he was dropped for the first leg, when a more realistic formation was chosen !

Ps some of the comments about Kris in this thread are embarrassing !!

 

He's been our top assister three years in a row and top goal scorer last season scoring more goals in one season than Hooper or McDonald ever did and you're calling him a squad player.

It's either out of order or one stupid * opinion mate which would you prefer?

The guy is just gone 21.. He's still finding his natural position in my opinion. He's perfect for the position he has been playing this season. He has pace which is not much use through the middle. He also likes to cut in from the right, much like forrest on the left, and take a shot at goal. Maybe he'll go on to be better than Commons through the middle, maybe even sooner than I expect. However, at the moment there's no way he's better than Commons through the middle.

 

Read what I was saying before. If the rumours are true that Ronny doesn't fancy him that much then he would be a good squad player, if not starting every match.

 

Kris Commons being sold because he's not fast enough is like punting Paul Scholes based on tackling ability.

Commons is a tough one. It's hard to drop a guy who can bang them in out of nowhere but I do get the feeling sometimes that the team doesn't perform as well as it could with him as our creative player. His first touch and pace slows down our attacks a lot. Seems out of his depth in Europe too. I really don't know on Commons. If we got a decent fee I would sell purely on his age but the guy did score 32 goals last season. Him and his missus seem sound as * too

 

But if he doesn't fit Ronny's fast style of play then it's not really blinkered. Charlton never took Liam Brady to the WC because Brady didn't fit his system, Brady was arguably one of the best midfielders around at that time.

 

Taking 46 goals out of the teams suicidal in my opinion, we don't have anyone else with that ability.

 

He does fit his style though? 4231, with Commons in the hole, pressing the opposition. Like he did at St Johnstone?

 

I hope to * that's not his system in Europe. A two man midfield scares the * out of me. Even in the SPFL I think it's dodgy.

 

Where did you pluck 46 from? Unless you're referring to someone else along with Commons.

Maybe you're including assists?

This is just Football Manager types mate. Commons is dropped for an away game in Europe then suddenly all the experts have him away.

All the goals and assists are forgotten in a cloud of smoke as the next bandwagon is jumped upon mercilessly so that everyone can say they said it first. Suddenly "all he does is score goals"

It's just the latest fad mate. Next week it will be the next guy who get's benched whether it's tactical, strategical or otherwise.

Any manager that ran a 32 goals a season out of the club who cost £300K better come up with a 40 goals a season midfielder who cost £100K or look like a complete * idiot.

Commons will be fine, as you know
