He's a positive from the 2 poor SPL displays for sure.

Last season he couldn't hit a coo's * with a banjo, this season he is 2 in 2 already and looking very threatening.

I don't care that he scores goals that may be deemed scrappy, the fact he scores important goals is always a good thing. Would rather see a player score 2 scrappy or easy goals than 1, 30 yard wonder strike.

I think the problem was the formation. playing 1-1 up front with Commons in behind Sammy means they have to be relied on for scoring and creating chances. Sammy can't score and Commons isn't particularly good at creating chances. I think if Commons can get a good run on the wing he'll get back to his best. But playing in the hole definitely isn't his position.

Strachan was spot on in the studio. Commons was being played in the hole… despite there not being any. He had to come deeper in the second half to get the ball and he was ultimately becoming frustrated.

Seriously? Unless you have a different meaning of creative to me, then I think that's a bit ridiculous. He's excellent at getting into the box and scoring, and he's a pretty good dribbler passer and crosser when he has space. But he's not that good at skinning people and making goalscoring chances for other players.

I think he had something like 8 assists last year and he played for all of two months.

Commons on top form is vital for us.

This could be a huge year for him. Just wait until he gets a ful head of steam.

    Top scorer anyone?

he's important to the team. He has a bit of quality and is a goal threat. But he can't do it alone. Forrest, Hooper, etc help him and today he had to do it almost alone (creative spark). So get off his back.

And one off toping the chart for the entire SPL.

I was thinking the same myself. He wasn't brilliant by any stretch of the imagination but he did look the most likely person for us to get a goal today.

Mixed bag from him today . Felt he was rather lazy and only started to play once it was too late . Soon as he dropped deep to pick up the ball and try make something happen we looked dangerous . Before that he was rather dire and looked clueless.

2games 2 goals hopefully he can keep that going .

I thought he was poor today apart from the late tap in.

Started playing well towards the end of the game.

Still happy with kris commons being in a Celtic shirt... when he scores one, he seems to go on a run of scoring for fun.

    Great bargain.

Hopefully grabs one on tuesday :icon_mrgreen:. I was just wondering why was he so cheap?. Was he not one of Derby's better players?

Good to see him continue his goal-scoring exploits.

Felt that he was pretty poor today - but the whole team was exceptionally poor so no one being singled out.

He was their best player by a mile and top scorer in the Championship when we bought him. He only had six months left on his contract.

Aye he was below par (like everyone else) however he was playing more the striking role. He did much better as others said when he dropped deeper to pick up the ball, which is more his game - running at defenders from 30 yards out.

I feel we will have a good season from kris.

that was not a game for Sammy, that big ugly * tokley, could have put him out the game. that * gets loads of Ref protection when we play against that * no matter what team he turn up to play for. the game would have been buried had we have those young guys on at the start, and this we must do for the first 50 min of any new game we have good lads and they would have put this team to bed early had they been given the chance and Lennon better learn quick the team that played Aberdeen struggled, and there ain't any use saying they would have done better today. I believe we got lucky. they smacked the bar also, and that would have been good night * for us had it gone in.
