with russell only after breaking his leg i think it would be madness to sign him at least untill we see how he recovers, i dont rate him that highly and think watt and the other young strikers at the club should be given the chance

You mentioned buying Champions League quality. Players who are Champions League quality cost a lot, Benteke £7million, Ba £7million, Cisse £7million.

And if you mean buy these kind of players before theyre that valuable then the likes of Russell are those kind of players. For all we know he could go to a team like Wigan or Swansea for £2million and then the likes of Everton will pay £7million for him in 2 years.

That's a good post and a fair point.

It will be an interesting summer for sure.

spoiled by success, ahh you mean the doubles and trebles we have been winning like walter * smith rangers the last few years.I don't mind defeat but what I cannot accept is the attitude of some of these well paid players who have a dream job pulling on the hoops, failing to apply themselves like they should and get turned over of players who have far less skill but twice the heart and hunger. Don't include the likes of mulgrew forrest etc , players like hooper ambrose wanyama and samaras who put a shift in when they feel like it.

the fact Russell plays like a striker should by hunting everything down and scoring plenty goals and the fat hooper looks like he is going through the motions in anticipation of moving to a mighty club like norwich

You said we just got to the Last 16 so should be buying to go further aka the Champions League Quarter Finals, what sort of players did you mean then?

Im inclined to agree with Sean on this one, Russell and GMS are not better than what we currently have, in order to improve we need to bring in better players than the ones we lose or at the very least equal quality players.

If Russell and GMS can be bought at a good price then it will no doubt be looked at by lenny and the team. If i was to choose between the two then its Russell every day of the week, i feel gms is far too patchy.

I think this is spot on.

In my opinion, there is nobody currently playing in Scottish football who has demonstrated they would be an improvement on any of the regular first-team players. I wouldn't be too happy if Celtic spent money on these SPL players, maybe on a free transfer though.

Better than what we have. I don't think Russell or Mackay-Steven are any better.

In their price range and with our nous in the transfer market I think we can be aiming higher than that.

hopefully we can be looking at 3/4 million pound players now instead of 2/3 million pound players.

last 16 is unfortunately the ceiling for a club like us but winning the treble in Scotland and consistant group stages are not and signing emerging young talent is the only way , I wonder if those two were French or whatever playing in Scotland, woud we be saying get them signed.Just because those two are Scottish doesn't mean to say they cant become class acts

I would say Russell was atleast as good as Stokes, Forrest or Commons with potential to get better, would be a good player for us for years and would be important for us in Europe with his pace and work-rate and ability to keep the ball under pressure.

Celtic shouldn't be signing players simply because they're Scottish either.

ofcourse not but a blind man can see that those two could be really good at the right price and I believe that we should always look to homegrown talent first and then further afield

I completely disagree. A player's nationality should never really come into, as long as they're good enough and have the right attitude that should be what they're judged on.

I don't believe Russell or Mackay-Steven would be 'really good at the right price'...unless it's a free.
