what are you basing that on. Hes got an excellent goals to minutes ratio for us in the spl and has played well in the champions league when given the chance. Imo out of all of our strikers watt has the most potential due to his incredible athleticism. Unfortunatly for him hes hasn't gotten much playing time since stoke came back but imo he should play more of a part next year.

Not that it's our responsibility, but it could be very good for the national team if we end up with a strikeforce of Watt and Russell in a couple of years.

I have more respect for McDonald for scoring and celebrating the way he did - reason being the guy is a professional. He's a moany wee *, but he continued with that desire to win when we signed him so fair enough.

Anyway, as for Russell - he's young, talented, Celtic daft, scores goals, brings others into play, won't break the bank unlike Championship players of similar quality, and appears to have a good head on his shoulders...We'd be stupid not to move for him, imo. That and Gary Mackay-Steven could be the 'spark' we've been looking for, for some time. I honestly don't think we need to look any further afield than Dundee this summer (for those positions at least).

We just reached the last 16 of the Champions League. Progress should mean aiming higher than we already have.

No one in Scottish football is better than we already have.

Gary Mackay Steven is better than any of our wingers, in my opinion.

did you watch the semi final. gms was ripping us apart and I would love him and Russell in our team. Sick of these so called superstars like hooper giving minimum effort and I might be in minority hear but if wanyama is the powerhouse he is made out to be, then why did utd score 3 against us. He is a defensive midfielder is he not clearly no protecting which he is meant to

    Better than Commons and Forrest?

What are you basing that on?

Ahhh yes. Lets make decisions on the fact that a few of players aren't turning it on at the moment.

Far too many Celtic supprters live in the here and now and don't see the big picture.

Oh, he played well against us and our players aren't doing the business, they must be better.

    Pish.

Forrest has been pish since the Champions League qualifies. Commons is too slow to play on the wing - he is more of a CF now.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand Russell and Mackay-Steven are better how?

By the way, forrest hasn't been pish since then, he's been injured most of the time. any time he plays he is one of our most dangerous attackers.

It's the cost though. I love when our deluded fans talk about signing guys at 8 and 9 million, we are not in the Martin O'neill days unfortunately. These "proven European strikers" cost a fortune on the fee and wages, we will maintain our system which is bringing guys in on the cheap and selling them off at big profit. Signing a Johnny Russell who is a diehard fan might mean if he's a big success he will hang about at Celtic for a lot longer. We sign a Nigerian striker who is brilliant for two seasons for example, he will be off to the premiership faster than we can say go. I don't think there's anything wrong with looking in the SPL.

I have absolutely no idea what you are on about.

When did i say anything about buying 8/9 million pound strikers?

We have been buying on the cheap for a good few years now and every one of our successes have been better than anything in Scotland.

    i don't see that changing.

then again, what do i know. Me being a deluded fan...

ahh yes scraped by Dundee utd pumped off st Mirren in other cup semi and lowest points tally ever aah yes those players are brilliant man. Don't get me wrong they are clearly good players but does that not then beg the question, why the * are they not trying motivated or whatever to produce a performance every week or at least in major domestic games.Would love hooper and whoever else thinks they are superstars and too good to get to * and give hungry young players like gms and Russell a chance along with watt etc

You obviously are one of these "fans" who is spoiled by success.

Those players you talk about have won the league, got to the last 16 of the CL and are about to do the double (hopefully)

But yeah, they have a problem with motivation.

The short memories on here are amazing.

We need better than SPL dross to progress. In fact, we now need better than Championship/League one dross to progress.

if we now stand still after the year we just had then we are as well throwing in the towel.

I wasn't calling you deluded btw, I mean the large number of our fans that said we should sign Van Wolvswinkle and Charlie Austin. 6 plus million on one player will never happen, not to mention 50-60 grand on wages that numerous premiership sides will offer. Everybody is entitled to their opinion but who should we sign then if we don't sign Russell. We are losing at least 2 strikers maybe 3 this summer so we need to get guys in for sure. We have struggled to bring in foreign talented strikers in the past few years, but I hope John Park proves his worth again, the Chris Sutton type target man we all want has not been found in years, so it is a tough one, I think we all get a bit carried away and demand guys that will bang goals in left right and centre in the champions league.
