I'm all for fans of other teams coming onto Talk Celtic and giving their views, however it makes me laugh when they come on and are surprised that potential opponents are less than complimentary about their team.

It's football ffs! It should be expected.

I'm sure Elfsborg are a decent team but they are going to get horsed in a couple of weeks.

I think Celtic will get it very hard away in Borås. Elfsborg has artificial grass at their home and this is not Celtic accustomed to?

Just beat a team on an artificial surface and beat a team last year on artificial surface on route to the CL group stages.

You are clutching at straws now.

When I read your comments, let the many that you have to beat Elfsborg easy. As a loss is a total fiasco. Do you expect that they will be so easy, I think you get a suprise. How do you see Michael Lustig? Is he a leading player in your team?

We've played on it 3 or 4 times over the last few years and won every game. (I think?)

Lustig is one of two quality right backs that we have.

We heard the same from Helsingborg fans last year.

I don't see any reason to be too worried, sure it'll be a tough game but you would fancy us to get a result at home and our away form is good.

Their should be a good atmosphere at both games, with the Swedish connection we have and a trip to Sweden in Summer is always good.

The teams are a good matchup, but i think with Sammy, Forrest, Commons, Stokes and Watt we have enough quality to navigate a tricky tie against a good young team who have a good development system.

The way we've been playing on these artificial pitch we should be installing one at Parkhead. Hope I don't live to regret that

Hold on to the post" is a popular meme here in Sweden, originating during the game against Ukraine in the Euro 2012 when Lustig let Shevchenko score a ball between himself and the post after a corner kick.

he joke is that Lustig failed to stand in his place next to the post at a corner when playing for Sweden against Ukraine in the Euros last summer. That resulted in schevchenko scoring and Ukraine winning the game and Sweden not being able to qualify for the final part of the tournament.

This sparked a huge Facebook campaign where people would post pictures of themselves standing next to a post showing that they could do it better than Lustig! So it's kind of a running joke that Lustig can't stand next to the post on corners

Singling out one player for a defeat. There is a trait you Swedish share with the English. You will go down a treat on here :smiley-laughing002:

I'm all for other fans coming on and giving their piece about a club we may be playing, it's usually a nice insight but lets be serious here:

    1. Does Mo Bangura not play every game for you guys?
    2. He was our last choice striker at the club and jumped straight into your side.
    3. Bangura is currently your joint top goalscorer in the Allsvenskan.
    4. We have an extremely good record on artificial pitches!

    Swedish Boy

I think you misunderstand us. Nobody is saying that we will absolutely destroy you home and away or that we should play reserve players since you are so inferior to the mighty Glasgow Celtic. We're just confident that, over the course of 2 legs, we will have enough quality to progress. IF Elfsborg may have had a good Allsvenskan season. But you dropped 31 points in what is an even worse league than our own: The SPL. In fact, If BK Hacken had won just 2 more points, they would have won the title instead of you. That doesn't suggest you are an extraordinarily talented team for Scandinavian standards. Forgetting the whole debacle around whether he features or not, Mohamed Bangura is widely considered one of the worst strikers in Celtic Football Club history. Yet he is a regular with your club, that speaks volumes.

In contrast, we played in the Champions League group stage last season and qualified for the Last 16 with 10 points and beat Barcelona 2-1 at home and Spartak Moscow 3-2 away. We're the favourites, rightfully so. And while you don't deserve to be underestimated, please don't lecture us.

And for those of you who think that Bangura will not play. He will play! before the draw, he went out and said his dream opponents were Celtic. He wants to cut you and show you were wrong !

Swedish_Boy - about the stadium and supporters.

How many tickets are we likely to get? One stand behind the goal?

Haven't really heard much about the Elfsborg supporters. Bit of a vibrant hooligan scene in Swedish football - will we be fine with Elfsborg? Some trouble last season with Helsingborgs.

Some from Djurgården will likely be there supporting us.

    We were wrong? No.

We just had superior players ahead of him, he was given a few starts in a row and looked absolutely out of place.

Hooper, Stokes, Samaras, Watt, Lassad and Miku (EVEN MIKU) were all ahead of Bangura for a place.

A similar thing happened here quite a few years ago! We signed a player from Feyenoord who made his debut against Hibernian at Easter Road, he came on as a late substitute. He inadvertently passed the ball to Hibernian player who then went on to score, resulting in a 2–1 defeat for Celtic. He scored an own goal in his first European game also. You might have heard of him? Henrik Larsson?

Whenever Celtic fans talk about his Godhoodness the standing joke is to sometimes mention his debut, probably just to take a break so we can think of more adjectives to describe his greatness :39:

Bangura also said - before he joined Celtic - that he was using us as a stepping stone to the EPL.

Are you starting to see a pattern there?

Mohamed Bangura signed for Celtic in a fee of £2.2million. He played 16 appearances and scored 0 goals. One of his highlights was chasing an opposing player, when he was coming off the pitch to be substituted!!! He is widely considered the worst Celtic striker of the 21st century. He is a Celtic reject, yet is still employed by Celtic. He will cut nobody, especially not our team. If you want respect Swedish Boy, reciprocate it. :50:
