Whats the most iconic building were you live

A homeless transformer.


Nah, Cumbernauld town centre. Absolute shithole. There is a decent part of it but everyone who knows this place, that's the first thing they probably think of.

been in Cumbernauld a couple of times full of roundabouts.Was near dizzy by the time I got out of it

Had the misfortune of growing up there. Escaped about 6 years ago. For those that haven't experienced Cumbernauld town centre the upper levels, which are largely abandoned and only partially-lit, are like the space ship from Alien!

 

If you're a baseball fan then it would probably be Busch Stadium where the St Louis Cardinals play :icon_mrgreen:




But I think the most iconic building close to me would be the Gateway Arch (which is about 2 minutes away from Busch Stadium) -




You can go up inside the Arch as well all the way to the top and the view's you get are pretty good I'd say :icon_mrgreen:

Some amazing buildings you Canadians/Americans live beside but I do like the wee chapels, cottages and churches over here. I'm old fashioned!

Anyway back home on the Isle of Man the icon is definitely the Laxey Wheel although beautiful historic sites like Castle Rushen and Peel Castle are certainly rivals.


The icon of Dundee is quite hard to choose (other than a junkie). Most recognisable is probably the rail bridge although the old jute mills and the McManus are contenders.


But come 2015 this spaceship is supposed to be landing!

Back at home it's this windmill, the only 8 sailed windmill in England i believe.

 

The David Livingstone Centre.

A true Scottish pioneer and his house is right here in Blantyre.

 

Live in a small-ish town of ~40,000 people down south.

We've got some Roman Baths:




There are some old Belgic graves aswell, but most of that's in a museum these days, although it was quite a big find when they stumbled upon the site in the 60's:



Got an old-style viaduct too:



The town itself is a New Town, designed as a Garden City, meant to have been some sort of post-Victorian/neo-Georgian utopia that would be self-sufficient... Still it looks pretty and has lot's of greenery and open spaces, etc:






And finally, there's a swanky-looking manor with a golf course on the edge of town:

It's a superb view but if you haven't got a head for heights it's VERY daunting. It's only 630 feet high though so isn't too bad :icon_mrgreen:

Being originally from Scotland I do like the different iconic structures there as well, especially castles and different ruins and such. Makes me homesick sometimes

The most iconic building where I'm originally from is the Arbroath Abbey.
