    :56: Fair enough

But therealfenian has simply started the thread to pay respects to a woman who many of us saw as committed to the cause. If they have nothing else to say, then they should just * off and say nothing. They are the ones dragging it off topic

I wouldn`t like to think this thread will be locked

No, but you did say he was responsible for many deaths. Obviously.

It might not happen right away, but invariably, threads concerning the IRA or figures of the IRA get closed eventually.

I'm not advocating it of course. It is a forum after all and the IRA is always a hot topic, especially on Celtic boards.

As with any thread expressing RIP please either offer your condolences or remain silent.

By all means discuss the persons actions / deeds but use another thread.

Well i hope he fails. Hughes' stuff was pretty damning and revelatory.

TBH while 15 years ago she would probably quite happily have had me dissapeared :smiley-laughing002: i can admire her and her family. They picked their fight and stuck to it, even till the very end.

    RIP.

In terms of attitude, I don’t think growing‑up or living in Ireland necessarily makes a great deal of difference.

There are many weak‑minded people in Ireland who would be just as quick to pour scorn on the fallen volunteers, just as there are many decent, free‑thinking people outside Ireland who would sympathise with these inspirational men and women.

That’s just the nature of humankind.

One person’s terrorist is another person’s freedom fighter. Rightly or wrongly, Dolours Price joined a guerrilla organisation which was attempting to liberate the Irish people from the shackles of colonial occupation, domination and subjugation.

There is little point in anyone moralising about her actions, because the regime against which she was fighting was characterised by a complete disregard for the rights of the conquered native people. And of course its iniquitous structures were underpinned by the exercise of excessive military force.

I may have disagreed with her position in latter years, but there is no doubt she was a committed and selfless republican who dedicated her life to the cause of Irish freedom.

I will always respect her courage and her tenacity.

    RIP :shamrock:
