He will not be involved either tonight for the U-20s or tomorrow against Dundee United as he has now gone back to Australia to complete some paperwork that needs done.

Thats ridiculous in my honest opinon. Howthe fu@k in 2013 do you need to have a player circumnavigate the globe to sign paperwork!

What about email, fax, f##kin carrier pigeon?

What ever the paperwork is could have had the originals couriered out and back for a few pound.

Thats a mad reason to be going back to all that travel.

    Rant over

You cant expect the guy to just desert Australia at the drop of a hat and leave everything behind. He will have to sort out everything back home for a few days as once he's here he wont be going back there for months. He might have a house, a car, bills, stuff he wants to bring over here clothes, pets could be anything.

He looks really promising, great signing. If he can do what he did in the Australian league, I cant wait for him to arrive.

Hi there guys - another Mariners fan here to give you a bit of an idea what you've bought.

To put things in proper perspective, you need to appreciate the quality of the A-League. I'm guessing it's far stronger than most of you realise (even though you know the Mariners beat Celtic a couple of seasons back). Most A-League teams (in my opinion) would go pretty well in the SPL - definitely not saying they'd win it, but the better teams like the Mariners, Adelaide, Melbourne Victory would certainly be in the running.

Of course, the best Australian players (mostly) aren't in the A-League. They're all in Europe and the more cashed up Asian Leagues. In the last few years, Australia has ranged from 14 to mid 30s in the FIFA rankings, so has some very good players indeed. (The side you lot recently beat was a fading dad's army who will never grace the same pitch together again.) Rogic has just recently broken into the top squad - from the A-League - after only a handful of professional games, and immediately looked the goods in a win over South Korea in Korea. That's a really tough match.

This season for the Mariners he's been sensational. Every time he gets the ball the buzz around the ground swells and people are quickly on their feet. He's constantly man-marked, or even double-marked, but his feet are so fast he (as often as not) beats the first two tackles and is into space - running at a retreating defence with plenty of options because too many blokes were marking him and are now chasing the runners they should have been marking in the first place.

His vision and passing are superb and he can shoot from distance. Some think him slow but he's deceptively quick with great acceleration from a standing start. But he's most valuable with assists. Daniel McBreen is a 35 yo striker who should have been on the scrap heap - he leads the scoring charts in the A-League this season, largely because of the opportunities created by Rogic.

My only concern for him in the SPL is that he can be upset by constant hacking. If the referees don't protect him, other clubs could send out grunts to just stick to him and bring him down whenever the ball comes near. That's what got him sent off in his last game for the Mariners - he was so frustrated by the constant hacks and was trying to give a bit back. But bad tackles aren't his game.

As for the money. Boy did you guys get a bargain. If he was coming from a South American league, or even one of the more established Asian leagues, he would have cost millions of pounds. Give him a year and a half in the SPL and Celtic will be receiving offers in the 10 mill pound range, which will be good for the Mariners who (I understand) get 15% of any onsell.

I for one will enjoy watching his progress (while lamenting his departure from the Central Coast). He is a different player from Mark Viduka but may be every bit as successful. He is certainly more skillful.

yeah for me a lot of people have been ignorant to the quality of the a-league which is a bit hypocritical considering our pains at english fans thinking the same of our league

    Mr Cleansheets is spot on.
I'm a Melbourne Victory fan in Australia and have to say the lad is a class above in an increasingly good quality league.
With the right guidance (which seems to be our strong point with the younger players.) I'm expecting he'll be a fan favorite.....fingers crossed.
He is just great to watch on the ball.
And his vision is beyond his years also.

Thought you guys might be interested in a little extra background.

I understand that Tom's deal with Celtic was largely facilitated by Lawrie McKinna - General Manager of Fooball at the Mariners - when he was in Gleska in December. Lawrie used to be a Kilmarnock striker back in the 80s before he emigated to Oz to play in the old national league. He was the inaugural coach at the Mariners and is one of the most popular identities in Australian football - pretty much loved by all fans regardless of their usual allegiances. Lawrie is so popular, in fact, that he is now Mayor of Gosford (the major town on the Central Coast).

So, you lads ought to be grateful to Lawrie for pushing Tommy in your direction...but here's the bad news. Lawrie is a lifelong Rangers fan.

Have no fear. His desire to see Tommy go to the right club obviously outweighed any sectarian affiliation.

    Clean sheets, dirty copybook.:38:

Yeh or maybe sectarian affiliiation is an irrelevance, the lad was never going to sign for 3rd division nobodys.
