    Disgraceful.

Help yourself to a £100 worth that you are owed.

that's a disgrace their not accepting vouchers. The money has been paid and they are basically trying to sell items twice by not accepting them.
Wouldn't watchdogs/trading standards have something to say about that?

Just got an e-mail from them saying a DVD I previously cancelled before Christmas was on it's way. I called them up and the guy said he cancelled the order as it wouldn't get here on time.

Nothing seems to have come out my account yet thankfully.

Normally you'd expect a big chain to offer better prices but here in Paisley our small independent stores always beat Our Price/HMV. I remember picking up The Wall CD and it had £26.99 stuck to it. I went round to Stereo 1 (now sadly deceased) and got it for a nice round score. Out and out robbing * who really won't be missed.

The only CD I've had from Our Price/HMV was Renaissance 2 by John Digweed, I remember picking it up and thinking: That's unusually heavy. I opened it up and all three discs were in it. Straight into my pocket it went. Still have it too, * belter of a mix.

The worst bit about the vouchers, apart from having them, is that the poor staff will take the brunt of the abuse from customers whilst facing losing their jobs and the administrators and bosses just sit back and collect their pay offs.

Once HMV enters into administration (not sure what would be the cut-off point), people with vouchers are creditors like everybody else and have no right of priority. These customers will not be the only ones who will not see their money again.

I agree it seems unfair, but creditors need to be treated equally...

you're seriously complaining about a voucher? these people who work there have bigger problems at the moment, they've gone into admin just like comet did, when they announce their closing down they will accept them then. no doubt the company will be bought over by someone else so you'll still be able to use your vouchers, it's been talk of going into admin for over a week, should of used them sooner lol

Are most HMV staff not students anyway? It's unlikely they'll have big families to feed so I reckon they'll be alright. As for vouchers, what's the point of hoarding them? They should have indeed been used by now.

Yeah, I'm surprised they've even lasted so long, especially with MP3s so easy to download for free over the last 13 years.

How should they have been used by now? What if people with these vouchers don't want to spend them on anything just now because there is nothing they fancy?

At the end of the day, the vouchers have been payed for therefore should be available to use until the shop has permanently closed.

Vouchers in essence are essentially a scam IMO. The only people who were keeping stores like HMV going were the ones that had more money than sense. WHSmith will no doubt be the next big scalp. I definitley think the concept of the high street needs to change. There needs to be an incentive to come down other than just spending money. HMV made their money during the 80's and 90's, but failed to adapt to emerging threats. As one Celtic fan once said, [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBH4g_ua5es"]the rebels have won[/ame]
