How much, on average, would a pint in Templebar set you back?

Depends. Lots of variation. You won't get a good deal in Temple Bar though. Steer well clear and head to other city centre bars. There's plenty all over the place.

It's far too dear. I also expect it's the least Irish place in Ireland - everyone was Polish or Romanian or whatever.

If you have any interest in Irish history, the tour of Kilmainham jail is well worth a visit.

There's the O2 Academy, like ABC but cheaper. It's a "tops aff" affair.

Temple Bar is a Tourist attraction, that is why you don't find many Irish people there.

Biggest problem is getting in anywhere, bouncers are complete *. :38:

If you are in a big group, make sure you split up before trying to get in anywhere.

We were in one pub in the city centre at 5 in the afternoon, enjoying a quiet pint, when a bouncer walked over and told us to drink up and leave, said he didn't want any 'large groups' in the pub.

    Shameful. :38:

Stay away from Templebar, some good bars on Camden Street and a few good places near Stephens Green. If you want to head to a big nightclub go to Wrights in Swords, about 20 mins in a taxi from the city. Everywhere is expensive so bring plenty of money. My tip would to find places with drink deals. Or you could just pre-game with a naggin or two and stick to the pints ha

Dublin is getting a bad rep on this thread!

Yeah I would agree to stay away from Temple Bar. Overall prices have come down and with strong sterling €5 is about £4. Camden Street/Harcourt Street is popular - Copper Face Jacks and D2 are heaving and open all week. During the week in D2 you can get drinks for €2.50 on some nights. D2 has a huge beer garden - and Coppers have a big outdoor area so good for smokers. Camden Street is good too. Lots of places just away from Temple Bar - to stay away from the tourists. Rathmines is good too. Alot of places have cheaper drinks early in the night and early in the week. But it is the city centre - cheaper out a bit from the city.

Guinness Storehouse, Kilmainham Jail are about the best to go to I would think. There is the usual bus tour and a few 'tourist museums' like the Wax museum and the Leprachaun museum - I'm not joking.

Good deals all over the place too for food - eat early to get the best ones

    Not this.

    This! :50:

Belfast is a far superior city for a night out...and Glasgow is far superior to both. Never been to Cork right enough...

:50:A couple of wee gems are the Celt bar in Talbot St great live music and for a wee cheeky pub just around the corner is the Confession box . Love these two pubs but the guys a right take plenty of cash.
The Guiness is magic so drink plenty of it!!!!

Temple bar is a good night out. Expensive but crackin place for a pub crawl. Don't spend too much time there its too expensive but a must see for an hour of 3 at least since you are there tbh. Lived, worked and been to Dublin on a regular basis for almost five years been a few times its not bad, last time I was there one month ago for the pubs of Christmas and it was 5.30EUR ish a Guinness little bit more for a lager beer and 6.70 for an alco pop!
Dicey Reilly's club is brill and has a great beer garden.
Dtwo is a good place too imo.
    Coppers for the dirtys.
The Brazen head Dublin is Irelands oldest pub a tourist trap but good to see. Guinness storehouse is good and the Croke park has a walk on the roof too which might be a good shout if you are bored during the day all within easy reach of the city centre.
