Having Broon as the team captain is like having Gazza as captain: totally inappropriate.

Only difference is, Gazza could play football.

Listen mate, give me a hooped jersey and I'll shove refs and opposition players about all day if that's the criteria to be a Celtic captain.

    I'll still be a * player.

Ironic. Brown is the SPL's foremost example of a * who think's he's a hardman.

    Respected? :56:

Respected by whom? Other fannies who think they're hardmen?

I would make a container of orange juice captain over Brown.

At least a container of orange juice is full of vitamin C, and absolutely delicious. It's great with breakfast, or even in the middle of the day when you're thirsty. :50:

    YNWA! gets me every time!

i concur! he is a good player who like lenny in his day didnt get any credit! thats how some of our fans want to act and that is up to them.

i think he is the only player who attacks and defends in our mifield or should i say does it the most, who cares if he doesnt get many goals, he goes unnoticed in the attacks he starts by ball winning or giving the ball to wingers or forwards in good areas.

was he signed as a free scoring midfielder?

we all know the answer to that so the not enough goals point is irrelevant.

His natural position is on the right of a MF three IMO or as the guy who doesnt have to protect the back. In a 4-4-2, I dont think the issue really is whether he is right or centre. The issue IMO is how much he has to hold back from attacking because of defensive duties. The problem in CM (and personally I think he has been instructed to do this) is he holds back and doesnt use his good pace and ability to run with the ball. I actually think Broony is good at the box to box stuff but he has never really been played in a set up that really lets a box to box MF do his stuff.

For example Stan is always remembered for his box to box stuff but he was played in a 3-5-2 or you could call it a 3-4-1-2 with him being the '1'. Stan had the perfect set up for a box to box MF. He was played in the centre but had two specialist defensive CM of a high caliber behind him (Lambo and Lenny). He really didnt have to worry about protecting the back door. There is a problem getting the best in a box to box CM in a 4-4-2 IMO. The Broony role wide right but tucked in role is probably as close as he can get to that role in a 4-4-2. He can also do the dirty work. However, he is not a static passing kind of player. Its really not his game. I think one thing I have observed about him is he doesnt like standing about and spraying the ball about. The more time he has to think the more it doesnt suit him. He is far better at a role where he is moving about at speed all over the pitch. Basically an all action mobile role rather than holding position and spraying the ball about like Ledley or Kayal.

All action at doing what exactly Gunt ,,,for the size of a football pitch ive never seeing a player running the ball out of play as much as Brown does ,but he gets some applause because he has a great engine .

Spraying the ball about ,,He could'nt spray a deodrant mate

Leave the football to the footballers.

Is this some kind of commercial?:icon_mrgreen:

IMO Brown has the mental qualities to be captain in SPL, he is a bit madman which can inspire our players and scare oposition. Sadly he lacks ability and skill.

In Europe I prefer my captains to be role-models with dignity and humbleness and still strong characters who will stand for their teammates and fight for the team. Also captain should be one of the players who should play every match and make the team around them better. That's the way I see worldclass captain. I don't think Brown is capable of that, at least not consistently.

I like him as a player but I think he is only useful when defending against good teams (because he disrupts the attacks on the halfline) or in emotional games like Old Firm (because he irritates the other team). When we need to create and attack we should play winger like Forrest or McCourt instead.

    Without Scott Brown

The few games we have played without Scott Brown in the team we have performed better ,everyone in there right poistions then he came back and 3 or 4 players are played out of position to accommodate brown.. That in my view is one of our major problems Scott Brown

he should definitely be dropped. we have plenty of midfielders who should be in the team ahead of him imo; Commons, Ledley, Forrest, Maloney and McCourt are all better than him on the wing while Ki, Kayal and Ledley are better than him in the middle. I think you can tell that i simply dont rate him.

He offers * all and the sooner the manager sees this the better, its quite obvious were a better team wwithout him, no pace and cant cross or pass a ball???

Many times have you seen him bombing down that wing and delivering a great ball into the box that some * has got on the end of and finished it????

We need a pacy winger, not brown.

His poor performances by far outweigh his good performances, and for a Celtic player, never mind captain, that is just not good enough.

We've missed the boat getting him sold for a decent price now.

    CELTIC SONG (CLASSIC)
im sorry but thats rubbish. look how brown plays, when he plays through the middle he lets ki and kayal to push through. ok it might mot be pretty but its efective, he's playing the same sort of position as lennon himself with mon, and for some reason mon was a tactical genius. so lay of the guy and let him do the job he's asked to do. for some reason everytime celtic have a bad game brown gets slatted time and time again. thats why newcastle are linked with him every season cos he's that * bad :rolleyes::rolleyes:
