What i do like about him is that he gets stuck in there and he does make the opposition take the bait. However we do need quality in midfield and I think Ki is an all round better player.

But with Scott Brown as our captain I really don't think we will see him out of the team.

The only thing I can say positive about him in the team is that he provides a good defensive balance to the team, allowing Wilson to attack and spurs others to work as hard as he does on the park. In terms of actual technical ability, he is not blessed with anything special IMO and is certainly the poorest midfielder out of him, kayal, Ki, ledley and commons and even wee forrest.

HOWEVER, every player I have seen that talk about the team say how great he is in the dressing room and when in the huddle so mentally he may be a big factor within the team. Is that enough to merit a starting position in the team.... Only Lennon can know for sure ....

So does Daryl Murphy, doesn't mean he's good enough.

He was very poor last night and I think he left Wanyama exposed a bit at the start of the game but we all know he is'nt suited to a central role..

From his time at Hibs he excelled in a more right sided roving role like the position he played last season..He gives us great balance in that position and I dont think any other player at the club(apart from maybe Ledley, untried there)can offer the same energy...

Against Hibs I thought the wide midfield areas were unbalanced,Ledley not suited in a wide left role,Commons unsuited on the right and if we are to play a similar set up this season to the one we played last season Brown has a vital role to play...

Like everyone else though Im delighted with how strong we are in midfield, and the compitition will keep them all hungry for a starting role..good times..

Not the best player but he is an excellent team man. Always stands up for the players and is good in an aggressive way. But I do agree he needs to show a bit more effort to keep his first team spot. Don't punt but he needs to certainly live up to his potential.

You are quite right in what you are saying, from the midfielders that get a game he is the one with the least ability.

He had a purple patch at right mid last season when he was actually contributing some end product like the goal against the manks but Forrest is a far better option should he stay fit and in form.

Lenny obviously loves him (unfortunately) remember after Broon scored in one of the Aussie friendlies there were so many articles about how Lenny said we MUST give Broon a huge contract and how important our captain is and yadayadyada...Don't get me wrong I love Broon and it's great to have someone like him in our squad, a player who can frustrate opponents but he really has very little technical skill.

I agree, but there is no chance he will be left out if he's fit. He's captain and Lenny seems to have a lot of respect for him.

I don't think he's a bad player at RM. Not great either. I think he would play better in a slower paced type of game, but not in the frantic pace the mighty hoops play. Everyone thinks Scotlands game is rapid, and we're the quickest of the bunch.

Anyone wished he had just went to Rangers, seeing as he supported them anyway and would probably have enjoyed thier slow, boring anti-football?

Would any * seriously buy him? He cost us 4.4m and he's a club captain, so they would have to pay us top dollar before Lenny and Co. would ok it.

Adding to that, the worst thing that ever happened was him being made captain. Limited us.

Very, very, very short memories and friendlies are a joke.

unfortunatley for the lad, there are better players in the squad who deserve a shot before he does. he did play well last season, but will be remembered for the diouf thing and diouf ended up with the championship medal!

kayal, ledley, ki, commons are four whom i would look at before brown then we have maloney (if injury free) paddy etc who should be getting a shout. I dont rate johnny no neck forrest, unfortunately, ok but we will persevere for about 5 years until we realise St Johnstone or Australia is the best place for him.

back to brown, he just is never in a million light years a celtic captain, never

he cant talk in any sort of manner which is becoming of a celtic captain, talking in text and shortened cliches just doesnt cut the mustard. he looks like a thug which doesnt help him either. i dislike his first instinct of trying to wind up an opposition player instead of letting his skill do the talking. he is a squad player at best and if i was kayal, i would have my agent saying "if that is yer captain and top earner then i want parity or i am out of here"

any sort of multi million offer for brown and i would escort him personally with rose petals as a carpet for him to the airport

It's a tough one. Ki is a far better footballer but it's hard to leave the captain out.

I think he's been great for us in right mid, brings great drive and balance to the midfield.

    Impossible to leave him out.

Dropping him for more than a game is a lose - lose senario for the squad and management. These kind of things affect the whole teams morale. I bet they all love Broony as a good mate.

Now what I'm about to say could be controvertial but:
I don't think Scott Brown should be captain, he goes into wild tackles and as soon as someones winds him up it's a cert he will pick up a card. I don't think he should be captain or at least he should calm down first because you lead by example.

People come in and out of starting lineups all the time, that's football, there's a good team spirit about the place, I seriously doubt everyone loves Brown so much more than everybody else in the squad that it would upset the whole team's morale if he's kept out the team by a better player, unless he spit the dummy bigstyle and actually caused a problem in the dressing room after being left out.
