Generally brown would be the first player i'd drop, but thought he was class today, seems like with quality around him he thrives, and the allowance to push on and run, however i do feel he'll be fourth in the pecking order for that Cm role, but with rotation and injuries he'll probably get his fair share of games. Still not convinced, but if he keeps playing like that we're in for a delight.

We have struggled against ICT in recent seasons and should have put 4 or 5 past them last week, the critics were waiting like vultures for a slip up at what has been a notoriously difficult ground to get a result.........

I don't care what anyone says, he may not be the best footballer but we miss his presence and energy in the middle of the park, Hearts and Rangers are two physical teams, he hasn't played in both and we have lost both, mostly because we have lost the midfield battle, i think if he was playing rangers or hearts wouldn't have got it so easy, both teams had plenty time to play the ball, if Brown was on that wouldn't have happened. I like Ledley and Ki against smaller teams with their passing and when were in control but they are not players who are going to dig out a result, Brown or Kayal would both bring that to our midfield, so i hope when they both are back they get a chance together in big games where we need to win the midfield battle. If not we can say bye to the league i think

It doesn't have to be Brown but we do miss someone in our midfield for certain fixtures..

When people said Robson should never have been sold I was in the minority who said it was a deal that didn't really bother me because we needed better anyway but I'd say we need someone with that kind of charachter who doesn't just wait for others to impose themselves , someone who will lead and demand others do their jobs , even if that player is only good for 10 games a season , because there are 10 games a season when that player would benefit us.. (possibly in a 5 man midfield)

It's a very acurate OP. There are many fans on here who don't rate Brown and some will even turn a blind eyes when he's just had a top game, so it will be the same old thread.

For what's it's worth, I knew we would miss him but we should count ourselves lucky as Rangers have just dropped 5 points at home. The next few fixtures look pretty good for us as well where we shouldn't have any problems winning with the passing game you pointed out that Ledley, Ki and the rest are capable of.

As for Kayal, I have no idea how good he is. I've only watched him as a player since joining after the season started. He's played what, 3 or 4 games at the most? Not really enough time to judge a player on.

The difference being Brown is missed, even if you don't like him you can see that, there is no pressing midfielder in our squad and we've paid for that against both rangers and Hearts

It was a wee joke mate:50:

I see what your saying...I'm not brown's biggest fan, but I think we miss that bit of dig he gives us through the middle.

Ki and Ledley were overrun last night. We're probably better not playing 2 strikers out wide away from home in bigger games. If we played Stokes up front and played either McGinn or Juarez then Ki and Ledley would have had more support apart from just Maloney. Samaras isn't the best at tracking back or making a challenge either. I think Brown would have had a lot of chasing to do last night as well as we were outnumbered in that position.

Always the same talk, when we lose we miss Scott Brown, when we win Ki is immense and Ledley is the main man. The nature of fans I suppose.

Our problems last night stemmed from our right/left mids whoever they were and carried on from there!

Yes but the problem is also that there is no drive coming from the central midfield position....whether or not Ki and Ledley are on form.

I'm not sure how much we missed Brown last night, I can see what people are saying about the physical aspect sometimes, but considering what the ref was like last night if he lost the head he'd have been as likely to get booked or sent off as anyone on the park.

Or maybe all our problems would have been solved and he would have grabbed a hat-trick, who knows?

The problem more than anything last night was changing the shape of the team from the weekend, I don't think any one player would have made the difference really.

I disagree completely, our midfield works better without Scott Brown and no matter how many times someone says otherwise I'll stick to that stance because we all watch the same games it's not as if he is doing something magical only a set few can see.

I (and many others) have given him season upon season to burst into this fantastic box to box midfielder his fan club seem to think he is, he does produce decent displays for 2 or 3 games and then gives absolutely nothing for long stretches.

His goals and assists stats are woeful, his short passing is poor, his long passing is non-existant and his discipline leaves a lot to be desired both in terms of being rash and the fact he is caught out of position through his meaningless runs.

4-2-4 means no box to box players will play. That's what we've been playing in the last two seasons. Every time we do this against decent opposition we lose as well.

Brown's a DM. Ledley's an AM out of position playing as a DM and that's why he doesn't score either.

    This, exactly this.

He's had long enough, punt him ASAP and let him get found out in England like Boyd etc have been.

Hearts were playing a high line so I'd say if we had a guy like Bellamy playing on the shoulder of the last defender it would have given us plenty joy but we never had enough accurate supply to see if Hooper could get in the clear.. I think the one time it almost worked was when he jumped the keeper and got booked for diving.. We needed more from wide areas with balls fizzed into the box but often the balls coming forward were being cleared by their defence , so maybe if Murphy had been fit he'd have been good in a front two partnership..

Ledley has scored 2 in the SPL already and has also had 1 chopped off for an absolutely ridiculous offside decision, he has also assisted a number of goals as well. When Brown scored a goal a couple of months ago it was as if the world was about to implode the level of amazement amongst Celtic fans and his team mates.

Ledley and Brown play the exact same position as each other, the difference between them is Ledley is actually a good footballer that knows how to play the position and can provide both defensive cover and an attacking outlet.
