credit where its due also had a superb perfomance today i honestly think this is down to 2 things lennon putting an arm round him the way oniell did to lennon giving him a huge boost and secondly having a much better performing midfield and overall team round about him so yes maybe i have been a little harsh on the guy and hold my hands up \0/

Yep, credit to him again today, solid performance. Entire midfield did well again.

Let's face it though guys, the last 2 games we've barely broken sweat. The test for our captain will come on the days we are 1-0 down at Tynecastle with 15 minutes to go and when the dirty dozen come to town.

Then we'll really see what he's made of.

Top players rise to the occasion in big games, that's where he has consistently let us down in the past, we shall see.

i have slated brown on a number of occasions on here. infact i havnt said a good word about him at all on any of my posts. so after watching him in the last 2 games im gonna have to say i thought he looked good. great game on thurs and again today. looked like the player i was always hoping he would be. i think the new energy in midfield has helped him. im good enough to slate the guy so ill be big enough to praise him when i think he has done well. keep it up broony !!!!!

having juarez, ledley, kayal, ki in the midfield with him benefits him since they all can control possession and pass, which is something broony is not good at.

I think the midfield has helped him but in the last two games i think a special mention to a certain Kayal must be said, i think he is the key to Brown showing us what he's really got, Kayal just gives brown that freedom no one else in the team can, i was watching them today closely and they were always talking congratulating each other. I think brown himself knows what kayal has done for him.

Hopefully with this midfield we can see how good brown can really be.

If he turns in the same sort of performance against the Dutch huns on thursday il be all for keeping him, but if he goes hiding id give his place to Ledley.

fair play to him, he's played well the past couple of games and i don't think it's any coincidence that his performances have been better since the arrivals of Juarez and Kayal, keep it up Broonie! :icon_mrgreen:

I think you have to remember that Skoosh is still only 25 and still learning.
He has had to carry more than his fair share of burden on his young shoulders for years for the Celtic cause, and if there is one thing I am eternally grateful for to Mowbray, it is the day he made Brown captain. Three managers in Strachan, Mowbray and now Lennon have all seen the talent and boundless energy of the player, and all three made him an ever present in their team. All three managers couldn't have been wrong about Brown. With Kayal there now sharing the burden equally for Brown in midfield, just like Kevin Thomson did with him at Hibs, we are beginning to see Brown flourish, bursting out from the defensive block, and hounding and harrying opposing midfielders and forwards relentlessly, and breaking up the opposition's momentum and impetus by not giving them a moment's peace or rest. There is not a better player in Scotland imo than Brown at this kind of destructive role.

secret with broony is he needs to be able to play without being the CM who is watching the back door. He needs a sitter beside him. In the past he was best when Hartley was in there. Now Kayal provides the fixed point and anchor for the MF. We have been looking for a sitter since Hartley went into decline and then left and Broony has had to do a lot of that work because various guys have not been tough enough to play that role - Crosas, Donati etc. Kayal looks like he has the skill to do the playmaker work and the toughness to do the anchor/DM stuff too.

I was about to say the same things only I'd take it a step further. You play 5 willing workers across the middle of the park and you'll get the best out of Scott Brown. It's not negative setting up like this when Maloney, Forrest or McCourt are among those working. 2 out and out strikers and 2 out and out wingers will not work however. Not for Brown or the team.

That goes for the whole team. We have had about the easiest possible SPL fixtures so far and Utrecht were about Killie level too. Its very encouraging but I want to see us against Dundee United, Hibs etc. We have struggled against them far more than Rangers have in recent times.
