i thought brown was excellent in the first half last night and faded out in 2nd half . with juarez and ledley there now celtic need to go 3-5-2 to accomodate brown

Neil Lennon on Scott Brown's performance last night............

'Brown was fantastic,' Lennon added. 'He gets a lot of unfair criticism from a lot of quarters, but I thought he was immense. I thought he played a real captain's role, but then that's just my opinion.'

Seems our manager sees something in Broony that a lot of people on here don't.

Disagree 'he's mince.' More like a 'vindaloo'. Very hot and fiery.
I think he would be a much more effective player if he was not Captain .... but at this present moment I just don't know who fits the bill. Maybe Suarez ... but it's too early. I think the problem with Capt B is that NL wants the Team to be fired up and passionate and rocking. The Captain is chosen by the Manager to lead the team and represent the way he wants it played, on the park. Broonie is running around the park like an eejit, and that pleases NL, cos he wants his team to play with a bit of 'Rock & Roll', a bit of 'get intae thum'. So maybe a better question is, 'Why is NL happy with the way Broonie is playing and the cards he picks up?'

First part i go along with as i see it as unbalanced aswell in there and Ledley and Juarez have more composure on the ball.

Celtic hit by injury blow as skipper Scott Brown looks set to miss start of season

CELTIC and Scotland have been rocked by the news Scott Brown's long- term ankle injury has flared up again for the third time in 12 months.

The Parkhead skipper limped out of the 2-1 win over Braga on Wednesday night as Neil Lennon's side crashed out of the Champions League.

But Record Sport understands Brown, who needed two operations on the same injury last season, has been feeling serious discomfort for around a fortnight and was only passed fit to play against the Portuguese side after taking a round of pain-killing jabs.

He reported to the club's Lennoxtown base yesterday morning for treatment on the injury and now medics assessing the recurring problem fear he may be facing a stretch on the sidelines.

Brown is certain to be out of Celtic's last friendly against Blackburn this weekend and there is little or no chance of the injury clearing up in time for him to play a part in the international clash with Sweden on Wednesday .

Scot s boss Craig Levein will have his own medical experts run the rule over Brown's injury when his squad gather ahead of the trip to Stockholm for their final warm -up match before the Euro 2012 qualification campaign.

Even if Brown is not fit to play Levein may still ask him to be a part of the travelling party as the new manager attempts to forge a team spirit before leading his side into competitive battle for the first time in Lithuania next month.

A close source said: "It is felt the best treatment is rest but given the problems he's had, it is a concern."

its good in the sense he has been poor and when he is ready to come back he will surely have to work to get back into a (hopefully) winning team.
i just hope they pick a sensible captain to replace him ! NOT HOOIVELD !

Don't like to hear about our players getting injured but think it could work in our favour. Will give us a chance to see medley and juarez in the middle together.
Really don't give a * about levein and the Sweden friendly.

He's still behind ledley, juarez and ki.
Crosas has had 2 years and shown very little in my view. He's a tidy enough player but not physical enough for the spl.

I thought he showed improvement in that in the last 6 months. Anyways, I think the physicality of Scotland is overrated. It's quick and hustlebustle but the players aren't that big/strong/athletic when compared to other big leagues.

Brown hasnt been the player we hoped he could be, we know he has always had the potential to be a great player and we keep playing him in hope that the potential is reached. I think I could count on one hand the amount of really good influential performances he has had!!

Without injury I fear that we will carry on in this vain, waiting for him to get good, will it ever happen??
