Ledley compared with Mulgrew looked like Maldini:icon_mrgreen:

Hooper was pretty quite but I was quite impressed tbh.

Juarez was brutal in the first half and came on to a game in the 2nd playing beside Brown.

    Anybody else?

Yes, of course. I've watched him do it.

Playing beside Brown in Midfield must be a good position.

Is Brown's deal up at the end of the season? if so he doesnt deserve a new deal and certainly not on his reported wages of 25k a week

He's no different to Gattuso or Van Bommel. They played in World Cup Finals.

I think we are going into the exact same scenario with Brown as we were with McManus. They are on the team sheet for no other reason than they are captain.

Both not worthy of the armband, both not worthy of a place in the team.

I agree that Scott Brown is not a great captain. His on field conduct is really below the standard I would like to see from any Celtic captain. I have to ask the question though.....if not Brown then who?

There is NOT ONE player in that team that I see as captain material. I've heard Hooiveld is a bit of a leader but he's not even cemented his own place in the team yet so I don't think it would be right to make him captain at this point.

as a samaras fan, part of me should prob be happy he's no longer the whipping boy.

But * sake we win today, Brown does pretty well to get us back possession on a few occasions and still people show up to lambast him.

Why kind of spoilt crybaby of a fan turns on his team after they rally to win 2-1 against a team that achieved the same place we did last year in a better league.

Or maybe hes just a better player in the centre, nothing really to do with Brown.

Why Brown though, I mean certainly there aren't many stand outs for the role, but Brown isn't higher than anyone else, not with the way he conducts himself, does he just get it because he acts tough and is scottish?

As far as I'm concerned Brown hasn't cemented his place in the team, so why does he get the armband just because there aren't any other clear candidates when he himself is no better, worse than some even?

He really shouldnt be a hot topic tonight. He played not bad. One thing I will say is this. People are never going to see the attacking Brown you saw at Hibs and for Scotland when he is in a CM pairing in a 4-4-2, often paired with some guy who either also likes to go forward (Juarez) or is not tough enough to do the dirty work as a sitting CM (Crosas, Ki, Donati, JJ etc etc). I think he is a competant enough CM but he is wasted there because he has shown that if unleashed he can be a real driving force. I think he should either be played on the right or we should try this 4-5-1 formation with the Israeli sitting and both Juarez and Brown doing box to box. Broony has never been played in the right position at Celtic IMO. His better performances for Hibs and Scotland are largely a result of him getting an attacking role or at least a role where he is not anchoring the CM. I suspect Lenny knows this and will play the Israeli in the holding role and Brown wide right or similar.

I think what should concern people more than Broony being the captain is that Glenn Loovens appears to be next in line for the job! Say what you like about Broony but I'd have him as captain over Loovens any day.

    he's thick as *
thats why he's a whipping boy
whereas with mulgrew, in his position mjallby can teach him smart decisions etc, brown doesnt have half a brain to be taught to
not saying i like mulgrew but at least give him a run in the SPL before we put ledley back there ffs...

Just does not make sense to focus on a guy who was maybe our 5th best out of 11 tonight and played fairly well. The real failures tonight were Mulgrew and Loovens and Maloney (not fit though). Anyway there is no point in bellyaching about Broony. He is going to be a big pool of CMs next season and if he is good he will play and if he is not he wont. Its a natural law. What we need to worry about are CG, LB and goalie where we have no good experienced options

That might well be your opinion but it seems pretty clear that Neil Lennon's opinion is that Brown will be in the team every week. The only way I see Broony dropping out the team is if he picks up an injury or a suspension.

I hope Browns performance isnt lambasted tonight. He played well and covered the defence, bailing the two centre backs and cha out of difficulties. He tried to make things happen too, rather than just passing the ball from left to right then hoofing it down the field.

I quite like Brown as a player and think he can make a good contribution to the team. If he has a run of bad form though Lenny shouldn't hesitate to drop him as we have good cover. This goes for all of our players though, not just brown.

I agree with gunt he should be played down the right. Him and Cha could make a good partnership, and we need someone on the right wing with pleanty of Stamina who isnt afraid to do the dirty work, as eventually Cha will be caught flat footed on the counter attack when he goes surging forward.

aye but Broony has been playing as a defensive sitting MF for a * of a lot of his time at Celtic. I strongly suspect the Israeli guy has been signed as a specialist DM and Broony will get a more attacking role. There may be room for him wide right where he is excellent for the national side. Truth is we do not have a single tough enough DM other than the Israeli guy and that is why Brown is playing there.

I thought Brown had a decent game tonight, put in a real shift.
