Personally I would make Maloney captain if no one else is coming in. Brown just needs to find his A-game, I knw he has it just needs a fright like left out for a few games. His position in the team seems to be automatic which just isn't right.

....and on the Maloney as captain point I know people will disagree but I like the guy and if you think about it hes really only the only one left in our team whos actually been there done that, proven for Celtic. Stay injury free Shaun and this season is yours.

Brown has showed in the past what he can do. He does have ability outwith his physical traits. He was hardly regarded as a headless chicken at Hibs.

I get the impression the boy tries to hard to endear himself to the support, and thats where you get the reckless challenges to make up for a ball he gave away earlier, or the squaring up the opposition etc.

At the end of the day. I wanted him to come good, as I see a player in him, which he does show on occasion but he isn't reaching near the level consistency that he should be approaching at this age. For that reason, if a bid of 3m+ came in I wouldn't be gutted if we took it.

If he left though, I can see him doing well elsewhere, and I don't necessarily mean at a lower level.

Think OP has got it spot on, think he gets FAR too much stick from our fans, people think that because he was GIVEN captiancy then it means he is singled out for stick, you need someone with energy and he never backs out from a challenge. If you have someone alongside him you can play that killer ball (Juarez, Ledley) someone who is techincally good with the ball, then it doesn't hurt to have someone who is going to show us a bit of energy in the middle of the park and who is going to break up attacking moves. (Scholes, Roy Keane, Makelele, Toure) All top players who played with someone alongside who did the magic with the football, their job is to show that energy in the mid and prevent the opposition from making potentially attacking moves, of course I am not comparing that list with Scott Brown but it shows you dont have to be amazing with the ball to make is as a good footballer.

I like Brown, I don't think he did himself any favours with that poor game last week against Braga but I stand beside the fact I that we can still make the grade with Celtic, if he plays he must do more with the ball and I want to see him keeping his discipline and making them long bursting runs from mid!
I thought he played well towards the player of last season, he was poor againnst Braga like I say but so were 8,9 maybe even 10 others.

He has the talent, he won POTY and you can't win that if you are a 'headless chicken'.

Brown has had a hard time personally since he been here, he had one good season where he was good, he has had injuries and had a family bereauvment. He has got over that now and lenny will get the best out of him. Just have faith in him. Even though he isnt the best footballer, he is a big influence on the park with his attitude, he can tackle despite people thinking he cant and he can burst forward to provide support too attacks.

Hes a good player maybe not utilised as he should be though(getting forward) he does it well for scotland and when we beat rangers in the cup final he was different class. Lets see how he gets on underneath lennons leadership.

We know he has potential to be a big big player for us, He looks fit this season and in one of the pre season games he was outstanding. Just needs to the consistency and hope thats what lennon will get from him. Think lennon is also the type of personality we need to channell Brown's aggression in right way.

brown isnt a bad player for us, its the £4.4million price tag that he came with and when that money is spent in scotland you expect a world beater. brown isnt bad, hes just not great.

Brown is an imposter, he does not have a fitba brain and to try and sell him although a good idea who would want to sign him for a decent fee.
Those that believe he can start playing good consistantly will find out that it aint going to happen. :87:

He's *. I've said it from day 1 and i still think the same

He has energy...... literally thats it. If he came up through the youth team and wasnt bought for £4.4m he wouldnt be near the team and no one would want him in the team.

Just look at his performances! Time and time and time again he's *.
I just hope Lenny see's it.

stick him wide right where his running might help us out. he cant play centre mid as he cant pass even the simplest of balls and he cant tackle. if there was an olympic event for unescesarry fouling he would be gold medal everytime !!

everyone has a say and this is yours about brown, but he is not a leader and i don't think he will ever be, he has had 3 years at parkhead and i don't think his 5m ( was 4.4m but now with gamesand scotland call up's it's 5M) that he has been worth it

and as for tonight lennon will play him, don't know why when we have better players at the moment than him just cause he is the captain he will get a game, lets see after tonight if your scott brown turns up,

I pray he doesn't start tonight. Juarez and Ledley are better CMs and Forrest is better on the wings. There's no room for him tonight.

we know he has potential? think you and mabe a handful of people think that, i think he has had his chance and will be found out this season, but he will get his chance under lennon cause he is lennons captain

not a fan, but am gona wait till the end of this season and if he is pish then we can all say told you so, if not then people will change, lets just wait and see then, but i would drop him if it was me..... give the other new guys a chance, just like the chance that brown has had

I find some of the accusations thrown at Scott Brown by a section of the Celtic support embarassing. Comments like 'you only try for Scotland' and 'he doesn't care because he's really a Hun' merely serve to embarass the people making them and not Scott Brown. I heard both of these things said at a match last season and on this forum.

Broony may not be a world beater but I could never accuse him of a lack of effort and he is far from being the worst player in our team. I really think that he is just a magnet for criticism because of his price tag and the fact that he has been made captain.

    1. Scott Brown is not responsible for the fee Gordon Strachan paid for him.

    2. If Brown wasn't captain, who would be? We're hardly flush with players who have great leadership qualities are we.

I really hope Broony puts in a good season this year and silences his critics. He has got talent, he proved it at Hibs and when he won Players Player of the Year in 2009, and it would be a big plus for us if he can get back to his best.

Leadership? By doing what - staring angrily at people? Giving away stupid freekicks and picking up needless bookings? Passing the ball to anyone not in a Celtic shirt?

He's 25 - if he can't control a ball, pass or shoot at that age he's never going to. And he wasn't a kid when he came here, either.

The only time our midfield has looked good over the last three/four years is when Scott Brown wasn't in it. He is a rotten footballer and way out of his depth.
