he is more than just a great engine IMO. He is not a tippy tappy passer but he is really good at twisting and turning on the ball and wriggling through. Looks great when we are breaking at speed. Seems to need momentum and is best when he doesnt have too much time to think. Basically good running and good when the ball is put in front of him but not a player for a neat possession ball to feet type game. Finally, he is one of the only realistic first 11 players at the club who has that Scottish die for the team spirit that IMO a Celtic team needs. The way he ended last season and started this he deserves to be captain.

He is no footballer, he is a battler, a lumber jack. Could be useful in a team, but shouldn't be the main man.

Correct on all counts, maybe he could go to another fritba team and do ok, * Kenny Miller did, but with Brown I doubt it.
This gave me a wee chuckle on another forum.

"Samaras is playing above himself, but it won't last. Fortune is never a striker, and as for Brown it'll be the usual story of looking on in admiration as he breaks up attack after attack, then weeping uncontrollably as you realise that they're all ours." <!-- google_ad_section_end --><!--IBF.ATTACHMENT_309504-->

i think he gets too much of a hard time from a section of fans. He gives us Energy and aggression and leadership in the middle of the park, he isnt the best passer of the ball and he has to improve his finishing to be a complete midfielder but he still isnt at his peak yet or anywhere near it. Once he gets a consistent partner in the middle with him we will see the best in him. I don't get why he gets so much hassle but someone like mcgeady who has more bad points than good points gets praised and people think hes a world beater.

Tonight Brown is going to be everything we want him to be. I believe this and people will change there mind of him :shamrock::celt_2:

I hope he will play the game of his life and lead us to the next round, however he is no footballer. energy and passion ain't good enough at this level, you need to play football too.

If Juarez or Ledley are dropped for him then we might as well throw in the towel now. He isn't going to score, he isn't going to assist and he won't directly stop them scoring either.

Unless they want to turn tonight into a 'who can run the most' competition he is no use to us whatsoever.

Too many seasons im affraid, time to go, cash in while we can (if we can) more than enough time to settle in (personal life aside)

brings nothing to the team, nothing

It's been 3 seasons and he's yet to form a good partnership with anyone really, so question is, is the problem finding a partner for scott brown or scott brown himself? I know what my answer is.

The problem with his energy and aggression is nine times out of 10 it's totally unfocused, he doesn't put it to good use, he just charges about clattering guys.

To say he's not anywhere near his peak, ok fine maybe he still has a bit to go, but he's nto exactly a youth prospect, at 25 he should have mastered the basics of passing, or taking the ball not the man.

As for him being everything we want him to be, think most of us want him not in the starting 11, the midfield functions better as a unit without him.

4.4 Million for illtimed tackles and misdirected aggression which results in not very much for Celtic other than bad press

I have said it before, but over at the "comparethebeergut.com, comparethebigot.com" stadium, they got twice the player for half the price from Hibs

    simples !

yes we are being harsh on a player who can't pass, even simple 5 yard passes, can't tackle, rarely drives forward and has woeful finishing. All for £4.4 million. He has been here 3 seasons now and he has shown himself up as being average at best. The only time i have seen him play well was when the title was lost last season - the guy is a bottle merchant and can only do it when the pressure is off. The game against Braga last week sums up how he plays when he is under pressure.

well said...the fact is he cant pass a ball, not even simple balls and he has no vision as he is too busy charging around giving away free kicks. calmness, composure, passing and vision are most important for his position, just look at all the greats that have played browns position, dont think you will see any of them charging around needlessly as he does...

not anywhere near good enough to be our captain. he probably will play tonight but hopefully not in the centre maybe on the right where he cant * as many of our attacking moves
