And the whole Juve forfeit thing is embarrassing, just hope if we can't win we go out in style.

anyone think neil is thinking about matching them in playing a 352 ?

i wonder if thats the reason for rogne getting played the last few games

im not against us playing a 3 at the back except that because of us not being used to playing it at all, let alone playing it against a very good opposition

we would probably end up with 5 at the back because pirlo would keep knocking balls into the full back areas

these away games in europe really show how important it would be to be playing very good opposition more often in league games

although we've risen to the challenge this year and got good results, only moscow away did we have any serious possession of the ball

I'd do it if I was Conte. The replacements are excellent and more than good enough.

Pogba is, no doubt about that, but I'm not sure about Isla and Giaccherini. They are both good players, so they should be good enough to hold on to a 3-0 lead, but I'd worry for them if Celtic take an early lead.

If Lustig's fit I would play him instead of Matthews.

3-0 to Celtic only for us to lose on penalties.

If it was AET we'd go to penalties. :bbpd:

would we not go through on away goals or does that only count after the ninety minutes?

Almost certain it doesn't count after the 90.

I'm pretty sure away goals count in extra time. It's difficult to find anything conclusive from the UEFA website, but I've found this elsewhere:

'If during extra time both teams score the same number of goals, away goals count double (ie the visiting team advances). If no goals are scored during extra time, the winner is decided by penalty kicks...'

Wow, I'd always thought differently. I apologise for my little * of a smiley. :smiley-laughing002:

So, if we'd scored at the San Siro in 06/07 after Kaka, we'd have won? I didn't know this at the time.

    Article 7
    Away goals, extra time
7.01 For matches played under the cup (knock-out) system, if the two teams
involved in a tie score the same number of goals over the two legs, the team
which scores more away goals qualifies for the next stage. If this procedure
does not produce a result, i.e. if the two teams score the same number of
goals at home and away, extra time of two periods of 15 minutes shall be
played at the end of the second leg. If, during extra time, both teams score
the same number of goals, away goals count double (i.e. the visiting club
qualifies). If no goals are scored during extra time, kicks from the penalty

mark (Article 16) determine which club qualifies for the next stage.

Unless it's been recently updated, away goals count in extra time.....

Rather than Conte field a weakened team, i think he'll play a more attack minded side. It might be that this goes badly if we setup 3-5-2.

We always look a bit shaky with 3 at the back, so it might be we go with the away formation that worked, 4-5-1, with two wide men. Then we can at least keep it tight and draw Juve into attack mode and play them on the break.

The hard thing to work out is who to play up front. In away games, Hooper has done well, but maybe against lesser opposition. It might be that Miku has more of a physical presence, or we go with pace and throw in a bit of a curve ball like Tony Watt.

But it's more than likely we'll go with the most natural goalscorer - Hooper who's scored like 1 goal in the last 8 games. Saying as his form is off, he didn't do much in the first leg and not signed the new contract, if the tie is effectively over, we'd be as well going with someone who will be here next season and give them the experience of a big game environment.

Maybe the best chance is to get the ball quickly into midfield and knocked over the top, into that "last man" danger area, that's maybe our best chance.

Juve might come out and decide to play a patient possession game and we just can't take any risks going gun-ho from the start, unless Lenny is confident we can get 3 goals and a clean sheet. I hope we can and we make it a cracker of a game.

    I want a 433. Match there 3 centre backs with 3 strikers.

    Forster

    Matthews Wilson Mulgrew Izzy

    Kayal Wanyama Ledley

    Stokes Hooper Samaras

James Forrest to come on and run at tired legs, Commons as back up to whoever is performing worse out of Sammy, Stokesy and Hooper.
