I think he just wanted the referee to stop sticking his head in the sand about what Lichsteiner was continually doing all night. Whether Lichtsteiner was sent off or just given a final warning wasn't the issue, the issue was that one way or another the referee should have stopped Lichsteiner doing it.
It's like I once saw Barca start diving because the opposition (managed by a certain Portuguese gentleman whose teams have this amazing knack of being very dirty and getting away with it) was kicking lumps out of them and the referee wasn't doing anything. So they started exaggerating the fouls to a ridiculous extent to force the referee to stop avoiding the issue and do something. I think Brown's thinking was probably along those lines.

Yes. I agree with you (again). Some are missing the point, but you seem to grasp the whole scenario very very similarly to me. :50:

I also compared Lichsteiners actions with that of Samuel and the Inter defence against Barca a few years ago.

At the end of the day, the corners were * weren't they, so their was no need for all the rugby tackles in the box. If you use the same tactic people will wise up to it.

In the same way Juve wisened up to Hooper's blocking tactic all the refs will now be on red alert to stop this holding in the box. If that's what comes out of this game then football's all the better for it.

Obviously one team is gonna support their players but it's not right to put two arms round a player like that. If they want some gay action their's a time and a place, but football park isn't one of them.

Hopefully Lennon will have taken something from this Champions League run as far as experience goes. Antonio Conte is only two years older than Lennon, but is well on his way to becoming a legendary Italian coach.

Rubbing shoulders with teams like Barca & Juve, and coaches like Conte and Tito Vilanova will improve the team without doubt, and should stand us in good stead for future runs.

In all fairness, Juventus have had success ...ahem...."influencing" referees throughout the years.

Who knows if we can keep it tight in Turin for more than three * minutes and if we could grab the first goal things might get interesting.

We've got nothing to lose by going for it.

I really hope that's the attitude Celtic take to Turin.

I think Celtic will get at least three chances (maybe half-chances) in Italy, they must be clinical and take them. The defence and goalkeeper will have to have a brilliant game, which we know they are capable of, and of course a bit of luck and who knows...

We * it early on and had our chances to rectify and failed. * happens at this level. Aye the ref was a shitebag or worse but we should have been able to put the ball in the net given how well we played.

Hooper was poor on the night as was Forrest and Efe, the latter two maybe shouldn't even have been playing? :97: Whats with that Lenny eh?

I really hope we * go at them in Italy and if we go down then we go down fighting :boxing:

Taking all the refereeing stuff aside, their second goal was really good, simple pass to Matri (was it him?), great ball to Marchisio, shot feint and easy goal.

Hooper looked up for it, he just didn't have any chances like they created for their strikers. Only balls sent in the box were from crosses and Hooper isn't exactly great in the air.

It's a shame Wanyama was getting so few shots since we were only able to shoot from distance.

Lennon says in conference today Celtic will approach UEFA for clarification on manhandling incidents.

The 2nd goal was a very good goal. They deserve credit for that in my opinion.

I think a fully match fit Forster has that saved though...

I think Forster could conceivably have done better for at least two of the three goals personally. As you say, he may have been rusty though.

I cannot stand playing or being refereed by Spanish, Italians, Portuguese. Though they've produced a lot of brilliant players they are also the reason Yanks, Canucks, Ozzies laugh at us and will never like football.

Scotland vs Italy. Dodgy Spanish ref. Same night in Spain game Italian ref. Both gave dodgy decisions that led to both sides qualifying.

They don't want northern European teams and they certainty don't want British ones. total resentment towards us from UEFA and always has been.

We are quick to criticizes the defense and the ref but at the end if the day we got ourselves into lots of good positions and squandered them. We play like we did and convert in turin, especially early on, we can maybe put the * up them!

I see lenny has said they will send UEFA a dossier on the review of that 'wonderful' ref hope the * n his staff get made examples of, hopeful thinkin but he will probably get a promotion and another brown envelope

You guys cheated your way into to the knockout! And still you call Juventus Cheaters??

    - As I said! You schould focus on that you actually were the better side in 80 min. of the match! For sure! But stop blaming the ref and Lichsteiner for dive and so on! Stop saying you dont dive in nothern europe!

I respect Celtic as a club and for your amazing atmosphere! But right now you are embarassing your'e self as a club. Accept the defeat, and focus on that you outplayed a team that went unbeaten all last season! As i said before, you made Juventus look like old men, with the pressure celtic came with!

But the talking about the ref, is ridiculous.
