sorry, but this is what goal line assistant referees are there for. It was a rather weak shot, in principle not that hard to see.

I think this underlies some of the differences between both sets of fans on this issue. You guys see "just" a corner or "just" a cross and think we're overreacting. What you have to take into account is that these are actually big chances for us. We score a large percentage of our goals from these things, especially in Europe. Lichtsteiner knew it, that's exactly why he was panicking about where Hooper was standing.

I watch english football often - The nothern football with "non divers" does not excist anymore! Lichsteiner did dive - for sure yes! But Brown did the same thing! If I stamp on you, you will for sure push me(if not punch) :86: But i throw myself like i have been hit by a car like Brown did! He was trying do get Lichsteiner a red card! Tha's more cheat than protecting you keeper on a corner kick! And do anything to stop Celtic from Scoring!

Pushing Gary hooper so far into the goal that he actually touches the net is as clear a foul as you'll ever see. Just look at the last time we played you at Celtic park, we got a penalty for a push in the box from a corner kick and it wasn't directly preventing a goal. It was analysed and everyone agreed it was a penalty so why did we not get one on Tuesday night?. Also footballers deliberately stand on each others feet at corners all the time but they don't push each other over for it like lichtsteiner did. Also for pirlo to come over and try to get brown sent off was pathetic, juventus were prepared to use every dirty tactic in the book to beat us.

Bad mistake, awful referee, but you have to admit that it didn't, in the end, affect the game in any way because you scored the follow up. I repeat: his other mistakes, in contrast, did affect us.

When kelvin Wilson slid in to keep the ball out, he was blocking the assistant's view.

To northern Europeans Lichsteiner's play-acting is not just unethical, it's downright disgraceful. It brings the game into disrepute.

Yet you yourself admit that Lichsteiner fouled Brown by pushing him. Lichsteiner started the incident. It is his fault, not Brown's.

I think we will have to agree to disagree on this but I strongly doubt you will find a northern European who will agree or even sympathise with your standpoint.

This is what I don't understand with niko18's indignation toward Brown when Lichsteiner play-acted, claiming that Brown was trying to get Lichsteiner red-carded. He wasn't.

Yet Pirlo obviously was trying get Brown sent off in a very unsportsmanlike, childish way.

I mean: obviously so. Indisputably so.

Yeah it's the most gutted I've been because of football for a while. I won't be watching it again to review my opinions with a sober mind any time soon.

I don't think I've ever felt quite so heartbroken about a defeat. My mind keeps going back to that game in 99 where they won the title at Celtic Park (complete with shocking referee performance). It's the only game that even compares. I was pretty close to tears on Tuesday night, first time I've even come close since my teens (I'm 35), so I guess this might even be worse. I want to watch it again, to better argue my points/ check my facts etc; but I just can't face it at the moment.

I live in Denmark, and i know it's unethical! But to say players dont dive in Premier League is just crazy! Lichsteiner did push and did dive, but so did Brown! Had it been a Juve player throwing himself like that, you guys would be crazy :86: In my oponion Brown started! He stamped on his foot, and that's very clear! But lichsteiner's dive after was not nice, that I admit! But Brown did the same!

Got to admit, I don't think it's even remotely close to that myself. Suppose it's down to the individual though.

I don't watch the EPL so you may be right on that count but it does not detract from my main point that Scottish, Irish, Scandinavian, Dutch and German teams would not do what Lichsteiner did. And their fans would not want them to either.

Your equating Brown's fall with Lichsteiner's exaggerated play-acting is a completely alien mindset to me and I'm seriously struggling to put myself in your position and see it from your point of view because Lichsteiner's reaction was so over the top.

Well that was nearly 14 years ago now, plus they don't exist anymore. Probably it was worse and time has numbed the pain a bit. At any rate, like that game, Tuesday night is something I'll never be able to forget. I've deleted all the CL games from this season. Not because I think Tuesday somehow takes away from our achievement this season or spoils it or anything daft like that (so please don't misunderstand me and think me a fool); but because I know I'll never be able to watch any of those great moments again without being reminded of Tuesday and I don't want that. Thinking about it, the game where Scott McDonald scored those two late goals for Motherwell, costing us the title and we heard MON was leaving at the end of the season. That was the same feeling, I suppose. That game didn't have a two month build up, though. :54:

We don't play in the Premier League. We play in the SPL.

Premiership is full of diving *.

I was a bit embarrased by Brown falling tbh, but ridiculous exaggeration (bad though it is) in a somewhat desperate attempt to draw the referee's attention to something he'd been letting Lichtsteiner away with all night is not nearly as bad as just plain making up you've been fouled.

That moment needs one of those slow motion videos where there is the sound of a gunshot just before the player goes down.

Was that when they did the huddle at Parkhead? I was only 8 years old in 1999 so I can't say that it had a massive effect on me at the time.

I remember being devastated at "helicopter sunday", and when the huns hammered Dunfermline and beat us on goal difference by one goal. I'd put those two above this I think. Cried my eyes out haha.

Been gutted a couple of times at Champions League games (the Milan game was hard to take) but this was the worst by far.

Lichsteiner's dive was EMBARASING! for sure!! just saying that Brown did the same, and that it has nothing to do with cheat or mentality! It's about winning at every price! Brown wanted Lichsteiner to be sent of by falling, and Lichsteiner tried to avoid! Both were "cheating". But I admit Lichsteiner fall was embarassing!
