To be fair Alec, I think he was just replying to me, not being cheeky to your warning :50:

I thought he would use the bit when Izzy went down four steps after the foul, not * Lichsteiner pushing Broony then sitting down as if hurt :56:

Juve remind me of the inter team that won the champions league a few years ago, generally a team of * mixed in with a few very good players, they didn't impress me at all last night, hopefully they get bayern in the quarters who would well and truly wipe the floor with them

No problem there Sean. Staff know fine well how context is often misunderstood. I just wanted to explain why in threads are given.

It's obvious the Italian outlook on fair play and dignity is very different to the rest of Europe. I'm sure if our players had acted in such a way the Juve fans would be singing a very different tune.

Last night was a breakthrough in some ways for us. We pressed, harried and rattled one of the better sides in Europe. They were genuinely on the back foot.
Their midfield trio is second only to Barca's at the moment, and they saw very little of the ball. Their wing-backs barely left their own half and they were forced into some questionable tactics to stop us from corners and free kicks.

We had a lot of the ball but only created half chances. The two best chances (Wanyama and Ambrose) came from crosses into the box.

I would love to see us use the money we've made (and will make from summer departures) on a classy 'Number 10' who is capable of that final pass.

    What you like, eh?

The early lapse in concentration really played into their hands. Meant they could sit back and defend tight and hit us on the break as we tired. A deflection, or a rebound or one of the penalty shouts going our way may have changed the tie.

The ref should have been stronger and we probably should have been playing against ten men. Fine margins.

Congratulations to the genuine, and respectful Juve fans who have been posting. You have a top quality team, even if we don't agree with some of the tactics last night.

Marchisio is a fabulous player and this could be a good year for The Old Lady.

Out of interest, which of our players impressed you last night?

yes, it's right. Brown falled like a baked potato and Lichtsteiner did the same for not to take another yellow card.
We played the same nervous game, you were not so clean as you think.

Lichtsteiner shoved Brown and he milked it a little bit, but why did Lichtsteiner then go down holding his ankle, when there was clearly no contact?

Answer: because he is a cheating *.

    No problem :50:

The Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and South American outlook - especially to defending - is very different than the norm over here, certain cases could be made for some Germans and Eastern Europeans as well. It isn't so different from certain players in the UK (i.e. Shawcross from Stoke for one example) but it is indeed an exception over here rather than the rule. I'd say that, in general, Serie A defenders have more in common with South American methods than others. That is, the sneaky element to it, rather than the "hard" element. If you get what I mean :50:?
