    These aren't my words, but something a Milan fan said on another forum. I think it sums up the game perfectly, and while many people are saying this was a poor display from Juve and that they won't do well in Europe, this will explain just why that's not the case;

The whole plan of this system is to absorb as much pressure as you can and capitalize on the oppositions mistakes in which Juventus did perfectly. Its called Cattenaccio. No Libero? Was anyone even watching Leo Bonnuci? Juventus' pseudo 5-3-2-? Juventus do this all the time under Conte in the first leg of a 2 legged tie followed by pure Conte attack in the 2nd.

-Did the same vs Milan in the 1st leg of last year in the Serie A. Guess what happened? Milan fell for the same trap and guess who scored a brace as well? Claudio Marchisio playing in his modified role scoring a brace vs Milan.

-Did it vs Napoli, Lazio, Roma and Napoli in the Super Coppa as well.

-Same blueprint. Marchisio in an advanced role, Vidal tracking the fullbacks. Bonnuci dropping deep and sweeping out from the midfield once the opposition is advanced. Same exact thing while Lennon obviously hasn't done his homework.

Bank of mistakes? Conte does this all the time vs sides who are bound to leave their post open with the consistent attack being eventually locked down open for serious tactical errors and exploitation opportunities left by the opposition. Celtic is so stupid they fell for the same exact trap that Shaktar, Chelsea (1st leg) and countless Italian teams did.

Has anyone even seen football pre-2000s? Anyone seen Enzo Bearzots Italia? Guess what happened? Used the same exact plan and won the * * world cup.
What in the world were Celtic doing aside from crossing mindlessly into Buffon's hands?

How anyone can call this parking the bus is beyond me. Football is not dead. The classical chess like tactics of yesteryear certainly are being forgotten and not appreciated well enough.

Does anyone even see the scoreboard? 0-3 Juventus.

Interesting post Lorenzo. I have one question though.........

Do you think 0-3 was a fair reflection of tonight's game? Yes or no please.

result wasnt' fair...but we were wasteful, didn't try our * until the second half, and the ref literally killed the game.
Ref was corruption at its' best. And I was even talking to Juve fans toinight. Even they thought it was a joke.

But let's keep this thread civil lads eh:celt_2:

It sounds so strange for me to have a referee in Juventus side.
It was not like usually in Italy for sure.
But what do you think? You really think we bought the match or what?

Didn't it never happen a referee made mistake in Celtic side since you're following your team?

Juve deserved all their goals just as we did against barca. I think it was just a shocking performance by the ref. I said the exact same thing as lennon said. "This isn't rugby, its football" I couldn't believe what I was seeing from the ref. It seems referees seem to be our downfall in Europe. Song should have had 3 yellow cards on the night of the barca game. He got one yellow then let off with another 2 blatent should be yellows. Almost as if they want to keep all the big names in europe n keep the underdogs on a leash. I'm in utter disgust right now. Gutted

The main difference though being that the team from the 80's rarely let the opposition get a chance, never mind a goal. Celtic had some good chances tonight and with a little bit of extra quality would have won the game comfortably. If they use that system, and play as they did tonight, against teams of better quality ( Barca or Madrid eg), they will get destroyed.

I know its ironic after they won 3-0 but I dont think Juve were particularly good tonight.

I've seen decisions at times go for us and I'll admit that, but not to the extend tonight. I'm sure you watched the decisions n hooper from licschtiener (sp). And I know you done your homework on hooper standing at the goal keeper on corners(which is perfectly legal). But he was fouled on at least 4/5 occasions tonight by the same player and was booked for it which was an absolute joke. Leicshtienr should have been sent off

He's right mate. Juve don't get any calls anymore in domestic comp. I think cuz the refs self conciously don't want to look like their getting paid off. I've been watching their games for a while n that's what I've been getting from watching it. But im standing by my other post , i think its a matter of keeping the big names in Europe. Sounds a bit mental but hey, sports corruption all round the world apparently. Including champions league so it honestly wouldn't surprise me.

I am disappointed, not in the manner of our play, but in the result, to these cheating scumbags. We can hold our heads up high, and be glad that we don't resort to their cheating ways.

Pain is temporary, but shame is permanent!

Celtic is a big name, so I still don't understand the reason.

You come from a bigger country and Uefa is very biased towards the teams from bigger countries.

I dunno about anyone else but what disappoints me the most tonight is this............

I expected Juve to win this tie. So I can live with the fact we're going out. I did think we'd be able to keep the tie alive for the 2nd leg though. I was really looking forward to going to the pub in 2 weeks time to watch the 2nd leg with the possibility of going through still being on the table.

Now we've lost 0-3 at home it's over. The 2nd leg is a non event. Really gutted about that. We deserved better than that. :54:

and I'm proud of this words,
I supported Juventus also in the second league and it was not clear what happens to one of the biggest team in Europe, I was proud and I would have been proud as well as if we lost tonight.
