If we are to go to Italy with any hope of progression, then the following needs to happen:

    1) A virtuoso performance from Wanyama, Samaras, Hooper and Forster. Granted we need everyone to play at or near their best, but if we see the best Wanyama performance, the best Forster performance, the best Hooper performance, then we can definitely stand up to Juventus.

    2) Tactics need to be spot on. Lennon has watched Juventus play a few times since the draw for the last 16 was made. Hopefully he's learned enough and has a Celtic line-up and shape that will give us a fighting chance. As always, it might come down to a corner kick or a set-play. Let's hope he has the players well versed for these. If we score goals tonight, then one will surely come courtesy of Mulgrew's delivery into the box.

    3) Kind of similar to the last point, Lennon should be positive in his substitutions. Famously, the positive substitution that brought Tony Watt into the game against Barca, when we were already winning, turned out to be a match winning decision. No shutting up shop. We can play, we can attack. These are our strengths and we must play to them.

    4) Even if the previous 3 points are all spot on tonight, we will still need one vital thing - LUCK. Good fortune has seemed to have followed us thus far in this European adventure. We sorely need that luck to be there tonight. Barca for example had us smothered for long spells in the group stage, with shots fizzing off the post, off the bar, or inches wide. Let's hope Juventus are plagued by misfortune too.

It could be a special night. I'm happy we got to the group stage to be honest. This is already up there with the best European campaigns of the modern era.

The big question though, is can we go one further this time? Twice before in recent years have we reached this stage of the tournament. Each time we failed to win either game of the tie. Obviously it is a mountain to climb in the last 16 when you finish 2nd in your group and come up against Barca, AC Milan or Juventus, but maybe this one time we will do it. Wembley beckons.

Just about to set off to get the bus. Will be reading the forum on my phone on the bus, but don't want to kill my battery like the Barca game.

Hope everyone has a great night. Hopefully it's another one to remember :50:

I personally think that we need to go into the game in the mindframe that we are 2-0 down and we need a few goals...if we go in thinking about the next leg,we might get big problems...

2 losses in 23 CL group stage home games is astounding, considering the sheer quality of the players we've faced in those games throughout the years.

It is stupid to even contemplate the idea that our support doesn't affect the opposition players in some way.

I know our away record kinda balances it out, but even then, our away performances in this season's campaign have been incredible too, including the qualifiers.

We don't need a list of things the length of your arm to win a game fs :smiley-laughing002: All we need is luck, 110% team effort and to take our chances. Its worked so far.

I just simply can't wait. No matter what it will be magic. Even at the off chance we get humped tonight, I hope the fans give the players a massive round of applause and standing ovation off the park.

We don't need to worry about that anyway, let's get these pumped. 1-0 :icon_mrgreen:

I think tonight is important but the game in turin can turn the tie on its head. I appreciate the celtic fans logic/optimism in that you do have a brillant home record and you beat a brilliant team in barcelona. But the barcelona game wasn't knock out, these two games are win or go out so i think that makes a big difference. Football is never that simple.

From a juve fans perspective this is such a bannana skin for us, if you go through it will be a huge upset and I think that plays in to your hands, when we needed 3 wins in a row (one away at shakhtar which is comparable to winning parkhead imo) there was no pressure as it is our first season back and it was a hard group. Now with no disrespect to celtic we are "expected" (if you can use that word), to go through so it's going to be interesting to say the least, as if you come to turin with a decent result then the whole of britain will basically be behind you.

I think we can win, I know you are a strong team, especially at home but records are there to be broken and I expect conte's goal to be "celtic have only lost three times at home in europe, to barcelona and juventus". If any fans here(both sets) are expecting a very conservative game then I can't see it happening, the whistle will blow and I expect juve to go for the throat. Defensively we are not water tight so I am definitely mentally prepared to go 1-0 down.

Good luck but I hope we beat you!
