Samaras will play on the left. Hes big strong fast and very awkward to play against. He's probably our best weapon in Europe, he may upset that left side of Juve's.

VICTOR WANYAMA went through agonies as he was forced to sit and watch while Celtic booked their place in the last 16 of the Champions League.
But he will have no complaints about once again being reduced to a spectating role tomorrow for the knockout stage draw in Nyon.
The Kenyan midfielder is now free from the suspension which ruled him out of the tie against Spartak Moscow, on which Celtic's fate rested.
And Wanyama is already licking his lips at the prospect of getting his teeth into one of the big guns who can be drawn against the Hoops.

Wait if he plays on the left the we won't have trouble, but if he plays on the right hand side for Celtic then that might be a problem for us.

Are your attackers good? Are they fast, with good technique or big and strong or both ? Juve defenders are really good at marking strong strikers like Cavani, Ibra.

Possibility you'll be up against Forrest on the left hand side. Our quickest, skilfull player who loves to go past players. I think he'd more dangerous than Sammy on that side.

It'll be Hooper upfront himself, small, strong, drops off and links up and is one of the best finishers I've ever seen at Celtic. If he gets a sniff at goal he scores.

His movement will be the biggest problem, especially in the box.

Would have absolutely no complaints if, for the Inverness game, we went with a team like:
Zaluska; Chalmers, Fraser, Rogne, Gershon; Twardzik, McGregor, McGeouch; Miku, Lassad, McCourt.

We'd still have the quality in there to put in a match-winning performance (even with the form ICT have been on), and if we lose, we lose. It's the league: we've more than a dozen games to make up for it; we have only two against Juve. I don't want to take any risks.

Completely agree. Youth team/back up for me.

I'd be starting Tony Watt though, get him a goal before Juve...

Juventus are just such a strong side over the last 18 months or so.

They line up in the revived 3-5-2 formation which has become fashionable again across Europe recently. We've even tried it out a few times, and might try to match them up.

They'll dominate possession, with Pirlo being at the centre of that. He's not the most mobile, but sits in front of the defence, picks the ball up from deep and prompts attacks. Plus, he has Marchisio and Vidal, who are far more energetic players and will do the running on behalf of Pirlo.

They play a short passing style, and are geared towards attacking through the middle. Giovinco is small, and drops off the front to find space and can be a really dangerous player.

Our strong points in Europe this season also seem to coincide with Juve's weaknesses. We are adept at playing on the counter-attack, which is something the Italians are susceptible to.
Another big threat of ours is set pieces, and Juventus are without their most dominant player in the air, Chiellini. We may see Celtic playing long to Samaras on the left, where he will be dropping onto Lichtsteiner. I think we'll see Commons play, since he wins so many free kicks high up the pitch.

If we can close Pirlo down quickly, we negate a large part of Juventus' play. We need to stay tight to Giovinco and match the runners from deep.
Use Samaras' height (if he's fit) and make the most of our set pieces.

I think we can do this :shamrock:

How confident are folk that Sammy and or Forrest will be fit to start ? Just looking through the suggested line ups most people seem to be including one or the other. ( And I hope they are right to do so.)

There is contraddiction in what you wrote.. cause first you said you're a team that in Europe park the bus and goes counter-attack and the claim you wanna close Pirlo up in a cage. But for that you'd need to press high and put Tony Watt or whoever play the forward role on Pirlo. X_x parking the bus means putting 11 players behind the ball!
and if Tony will bit Pirlo's leg he'll get tired after a while and that wouldn't hurt a lot cause we have 3 playmakers.... one is Pirlo = top quality ok..
second is Bonucci in defense and third is Vucinic up in front.

kinda Tricky and Chelsea by doing what you plan to first game got a draw almost loss at home and second game awful loss even tough they repeated what you want for Celtic.

I hope Conte will put Anelka instead of Giovinco as he's a good players but he fails too much infront of the net.
And I still hope for Chiellini to recover he's been at rest for 2months for a small problem just to be safe from all kind of problems that might arise but imo the mister will try to ask him if he's in condition to play.
    Anyway we'll see

Don't forget Buffon is the best goalkeeper in the world, and he saved our * many times. He almost always saves the first shots, most Juve goals are from rebounds or mistakes form defense.
I am looking forward to see him play.
    1. 3-5-2 protects us from counter attacks since we almost always have 3 CBs at the back. Also Vidal and Marchisio always track back.
    2. True Chiellini is missing this match but Caceres will be there he is very strong in the air, and very agressive, we might also throw in Podba who is very tall. We don't concede often from set pieces.
    3. Most teams who tend to close down Pirlo they suffer even more because Vidal and Marchisio are very good at holding the ball and making good passes, The only player who successfully managed to close down Pirlo is Inler, he did in few occasions.

Tony Watt won't start up front. He's an 18 year old youngster. We'll press high up the pitch but ensure players are behind the ball.

The zombies are claiming he had dinner with Juventus executives and offered them Sevco training facilities..

Can't imagine a champions league team would want to use a third tier teams training facilities, just days before playing the countries most successful ever club.
