Pals and Family of Season ticket holders though are probably the most likely fans to get season tickets, so it might be that. Like a normal fan who cant afford a season ticket and only goes or wants tickets for bigger games is more likely to remain like that for years/ever. Where as a fan who doesnt really go to begin with, but then goes with pals or family to these games might end up getting a season ticket because they like it.

I wonder if anyone would be complaining if their season ticket holding mate had got one for them :smiley-laughing002:

It is what it is. Any way you look at it a large number of people were always going to be left disappointed.

What about guys who go to half the home games plus a couple of away game every season. And went to the qualifiers and group stages.

Celtic cant afford to have a big enough stadium to let every single person who wants to go to the game go, while lying half empty 90% of the time. So stop complaining (no one specific, just people in general who didnt get a ticket and are going mental about it)

Fact of the matter is there will have been roughly 10,000 seats available, most likely less after season tickets, away fans and uefa allocation has been taken into account.

Fans were always going to be disappointed, 10,000 seats available with at least, and this is conservative, 50,000 wanting them.

Got my ticket a while ago as I'm a season ticket holder.

I agree that after ST holders, people who bought the 3 match package should have got a ticket, and then any extras should have gone to ST holders.

What I can't understand is why everyone is going daft today. You knew what the arrangements were.

Can't believe non season ticket holders actually stood in a queue of around 2,000 people thinking they'd actually get a ticket, madness.

was the majority of people in the queue not people who had bought the three match package i know six people who went as a group and had the three match packages couldnt get a ticket which a think is wrong season ticket holders shouldnt have got more than one maybe two tickets

Yeah, but the arrangements were on the website that season ticket holders would be able to purchase 2 extra tickets this morning and people turned up who'd bought the 3 match package and were angry when they were turned away.

It wasn't fair, but people shouldn't have turned up today expecting tickets when they knew the rules.

Just to say... it is not as if season ticket holders could get 5 extra tickets, they needed the client codes for the tickets. For every client code you could get an extra two tickets, but the maximum anyone could get was 6, i.e. they could go up with their friends season tickets, but only a maximum of the three cards. That in my opinion is fair, as their were loads in the queue today getting their tickets, including the original season card ticket (plus the two) as they weren't able to make it over.

edit: coming over from ireland or up from england

Don't know if it's been pointed out already, but Lawwell said yesterday that the game would have sold out even if Paradise had a capacity of 100,000.

Just shows you the level of demand for tickets. Of course there were always going to be thousands left disappointed.

I really am at a loss in terms of what people expect Celtic to do in this instance.

Season ticket sales are in decline- Celtic need ways to encourage people to buy them, and to encourage current season ticket holders to renew and resist going down the route of giving up their tickets and 'picking and choosing (the big) games'. The best (and perhaps only way) to do this is to offer season ticket holders the chance of additional tickets for the 'big games'.

The system is by no means perfect- but what is the alternative? How do you a strike a balance between what's 'fair' and what offers some season ticket holders good value for money and the desire to renew next season? The current process already allows some supporters to manipulate the system, with some selling their additional tickets at extortionate prices and/or to ticket touts. If Celtic followed the suggestion put forward by some of the posters in this forum, of putting all additional tickets up for general sale, then these sorts of problems would only intensify. It would give ticket touts and other 'underserving fans' a greater opportunity to purchase tickets at the expense of those 'more loyal' or 'deserving' supporters.

I fully understand not everyone can afford a season ticket or live in area which justifies them buying one when they can't realistically be expected to attend most games. But what do you expect? I wouldn't want to tell people how they should spend their money, but I must say, if people can't afford to buy season tickets or regularly attend games then I would suggest buying a single ticket (for a mid-week match) at 50 odd pounds isn't really great value for money. As others have suggested, why don't you spend your money on attending a couple of SPL matches or put it aside next year for a season ticket?

    This.

The only way to be guaranteed a ticket is to get a season ticket.
