Football fans are so fickle. The people slating him now will be the first to jump on the bandwagon when things start picking up again.

I agree people should be able to shout at players and managers if they want because it is their hard earned cash which pays them, but I find it hilarious when * shout the odds at famous people and then get shocked and offended when they get it right back up them.

If you want to have a go at Lenny fair enough, but he is a fiesty Celtic fan from Lurgan, so he's not just gonna stand there like a Mowbray-ish muppet and let you diss him!

Oh here we go again.....this lovely little line

Aye - so let's just pretend that the quality of football being shown at CP this season in the league is all flowers and sunshine :50:

Then if Lennon has had a go back at whoever was shouting at him.....then what the * is he moaning about then? :97:

I know what you mean. It's a fair point. Thousands of fans singing abuse at opposition players is a separate issue, though. So I stand by what I said as far as the context of this thread goes.

He isn't moaning. I actually listened to his interview on bbc after the game and he was surprisingly calm on it. But he said that one line which has been picked up on and sent around the world by media trying to start *.

Fans are allowed to have a go at Lennon and Lennon is allowed to have a go back in my opinion. The only thing I don't like is double standards, people go the footy for a free moan because they know they can get away with * they would never get away with at home, at work or on the street.

I would love to see Sammy, just for one example, give it back to all the numpties who slag him every week for years. It's hilarious seeing the look on peoples' faces when someone dares give them some!

This is exactly what I'm talking about........do YOU KNOW exactly what was said/shouted to label it as abuse?

Yeah well lets stop pretending the situation is as bad as everyone is making out. Top of the league with a game in hand, great chance of making the last 16 and all this while the huns are rotting away in the third division but lets just focus on the negatives because everyone loves a good old moan.

    I'll rephrase that then.

If Lennon has had a go back at the guy who was giving him criticism - then why is he bringing it up in the media? :97:

If we are labelling one guy as a "numpty" or anything of the like for shouting criticism at Lennon, then you should be saying the same thing about every single person in the stadium (whether they are sitting at the front, or the very top row) the same for shouting things like "* sake Lennon your tactics are * today".....in fact, let's not stop there - same thing goes for those shouting in front of the telly etc.

    I'm not picky.
Yeh he picks the team but he's not playing on the pitch is he. The manager will always take all the flack but it's unfair on why they should because like I have said they can only do so much until the players are out on the pitch. The players that were out there yesterday should have been more than capable of producing a result against Inverness.

FFS, are we not allowed to criticise Lenny? It seems that the way some of you are getting on. You can say how he masterminded a victory against Barca but he needs to learn to change the team about a bit and deploy different tactics in other Euro games. The same style we played against Barca wasn`t going to work against Benfica yet he persisted with it throughout the game where we were so obviously going to lose if the tactics didn`t change

The league form is atrocious. Lennon has the squad there where whatever team we put out, they should be pummelling any team in the SPL. Add that to the fact that we are playing woeful football. Gordon Strachan football. I`m not wanting the man sacked but the results and performances have to improve. We want to be playing the Celtic Way. Granted, we played wonderful football in his first season but lets be honest - the football has been woeful most of the time apart from the odd games here and there

He liked taking the praise, he needs to take the criticism as well

Why do people like you persist in bringing up Europe and the huns etc?

We are talking about the LEVEL of performances at home in the league this season - if you are HONESTLY telling me the standard of football during these said matches have been anywhere near good enough.....then you are very much mistaken.

In the Nou Camp, Broony certainly wasn't fit.

In the match at Parkhead, Sammy wasn't fully fit and Miku wouldn't have been fully match fit either because he's started so few games.

Celtic managers can, and do, make mistakes you know. Every single man who's held the position has made mistakes. If you're looking for perfection you're going to be eternally disappointed. Neil Lennon is a young manager and making mistakes is part of the learning process. As long as he's getting the majority of the decisions right then I'm happy enough. I'd say he's doing just that.

Not sure on that one tbh mate, I think it was Chick Young who was sucking up to him and said something like "you're top of the league, doing brilliantly in Europe, so why are some fans still not happy with you?" and Lennon just responded. It was clearly Mr Young the St Mirren fan just trying to start something and make Lenny say something controversial - surprise surprise he has.

    and I do lol

Also the problem is a difficult one, it doesn't admit of simple "one size fits all" solutions like dropping everyone who doesn't play well. For example Sammy hasn't looked the same since coming back from injury, he seems to lack confidence. If Lenny drops him for an important match his head will drop (we've seen it before) as his confidence plummets. I think our team needs a fit and confident Samaras as he gives us something nobody else we have does. It will require individually tailored solutions for each player. It's a complex problem, but I'm sure Lenny will get it sorted.

I never said the standard was good enough but i have enough belief in Lennon to know that he will sort it out just like he did last season.

As do I - but that does not mean he and the players are exempt from criticism......and it certainly does not make anyone "fickle" fair saying so.

The last two home games in the league at Celtic Park have honestly been the two worst games I've seen there for many a year.

After Saturday's 1-0 defeat by Inverness CT, the Hoops have now only taken one point from their last three league games at Celtic Park.
"I've just had it out with the players. Our play in the final third was poor," said Lennon.
"We can't keep having so much possession, missing easy chances and being wasteful with the ball."
Billy McKay's 64th-minute goal was the difference between the two sides.
Celtic are now only one point ahead of second-placed Aberdeen, who could leapfrog them if they beat the Highland side on Tuesday.
"It's not acceptable," Lennon told BBC Scotland.
    Play media

"I'm not accepting it and I'll search to find the answers very, very quickly.
"I'm concerned about the lack of goals - particularly at home."
Lennon was barracked by some home supporters near the dug-out during the match.
"I understand supporters' frustrations," he said.
"If they're not happy with me and want me to go, I'll go, simple as that.
"The lack of patience shown by some people baffles me at times.
"These players are giving everything for the club. They don't always get it right. I know there's a lack of consistency in the league."
