That post made me a tad angry!! He was the one that dealt with being attacked and bombs in the post.

We shouldnt be the ones turning our back on him. Granted what happend in the past dosent excuse his performance as a manger but FFS top of the league, game in hand and making head way in europe.

Winning the league by a point or by 30 its the same trophy!

If you look at the whole quote he didn't say anything wrong!

"I understand supporters' frustrations...you know...if the're not happy with me and they want me to go then I'll go..."

We need to give him time to find a solution to these CL hangovers, let's be blunt, there is no competition in the SPL with the death of Rangers; whatever players say they know they can drop points and still win the league and that makes Lenny's job very, very hard. In the same interview he said he knew this wasn't acceptable, he wasn't doing a Mogga and blaming others for his failures; he will fix this. Give him time. Let's please not make this into a big thing!

If you actually read the entire post, instead of charging in frothing at the mouth, you would see that I acknowledged in my original post that he had to deal with all of the said issues himself.

However, he got a tremendous amount of support from the Celtic supporters that also helped get him through all of that. That was the point I was making.

I think we can all agree, after hearing the interview for ourselves, that the whole thing has been a big mistake anyway. The way it was worded before we heard the interview for ourselves seemed to suggest that he was threatening to walk out and in hindsight, that is clearly not the case.

Aye - doesn't sound anywhere near as bad as I thought it would.

Tbh - we should all be having a go at the * that started the thread :31::31::31:

It's simple. If certain players play * in the league game prior to a European match then they don't play.
Players thinking they are undroppable is the problem. For the 5 CL matches we have had pretty much the same starting 11 and before and after these game they are going through the motions.

Lennon needs to acknowledge this and make it crystal clear to them he will not accept coasting.
Dare I say a certain few players know the CL is THE shop window so only need to perform there.
Lennons major weakness in my opinion is his inability to quickly find solutions to long running problems.
Not saying I don't support him but he needs to be able to be more decisive and with more haste.

Have to say, our fans can be total * at times. If we are not threatening to protest about someone searching our handbags, or some political issue elsewhere we are slating a manager for his tactics only 10 days after he masterminded the downfall of one of the greatest teams ever.

And some posters on here are as bad.

Faithful through and through my *.

Yes - let's just forget about every bad performance because we did a marvelous job of beating Barca (of which I haven't seen a bad word about).

Head in the sand stuff :50:

Im not talking about criticism, which is always justified. Im a great believer in questioning our club at every turn, win or lose. What Im talking about is slating and unwarranted * he gets. And the players. We are not world beaters, we are working on a budget and we are playing at a time when the Scottish game is in utter turmoil due to the cheatin * fae Govan.

Lennon has been at the helm for both good and bad times. However, we are where we are. And that is SPL Champions and still top of the league, in Europe after Xmas and as exciting a squad of players as there has been since MON's days.

Yeah, we have bad games, but fans need to take a breath before startin to foam at the mouth.

Got to agree, its all fine and dandy beating Barcelona but you can't rest on your laurels. Our league form this season is nothing short of embarrassing to be honest with you. Defeats to Inverness, St. Johnstone and Kilmarnock.

Drawing against Dundee United and St. Johnstone, all from winning positions is simply a lack of focus and effort. You know fans realise when a team loses and they give a 100%, i am perfectly fine with losing if you know the team tried everything they could.

What is not acceptable is losing and hardly even trying until you go a goal behind, realise what team you are playing for beating Barcelona is incredible and a result i will cherish for the rest of my life but if you go from that to losing against an average ICT side it reeks of an attitude problem.

    17 days :86:

In all seriousness though, what do you expect? I don't think the fans have grievances with Lennon as a person, of course not. He is a phenomenal man, a club legend and has worked miracles since taking over as manager.

It is his sometimes bizarre team selections and tactics that he employs during games that irk some people off though. We have taken one point out of our last three home games in the SPL, so of course people are going to be asking questions.

He was the man responsible today for taking off one of our main goal threats, Tony Watt, and replacing him with an injured Scott Brown, who is actually in need of surgery and is playing through the pain barrier every week. Where was the sense in that?

I love the guy and rate him very highly, but Lennon does boggle the mind sometimes.

I'll echo 10/4's comment above but for a different reason - the reaction to his "quotes" were * embarrassing as it's turned out that nothing he said was even bad at all. Our form's terrible, obviously, and it's alarming that we can only play well when we're the ones on the back foot. However, I think that given what Lennon has gone through on behalf of the club, if he doesn't deserve a blank slate to be as terrible as he wants, he deserves the * respect for some to wait more than five hours to understand the * context of what he's said before throwing a tantrum on an internet forum.

    For * sake.

Faithful through and through is a load of * tbh.

Celtic fans have every right to stand by a political position.

Masterminding a win over Barca, c'mon any Celtic fan in the cold light of day would say we had a great result v Barca, but it wasnt a mastermind performance by the manager.

If Lennon did say he would go, well for me thats a bit childish from him given the massive support fans gave him during troubled times.

But at the end of the day Celtic, Celtic managers, Celtic players, and Celtic fans do not have a * given to win every game or play great football in every game.

And as for guys on radio phone-ins saying the SPL is crap because we dont have the huns, well thats pish.

Others saying Celtic are not playing well because we dont have the old huns or even sevco in the same league is crap too.

Celtic down through the years have had poor leaguer seasons, doesnt matter who the oposition was, we once nearly got relegated from the same league the defunct huns were in, thats football.

That's fair enough - I can say I jumped the gun in that respect of Lennon's comments.

My comments on the team's home/league form, I stand by 100%.

Ive already said that he and the club do deserve criticism, but fans swearing and giving abuse is hardly the same thing is it?

I am not going to back any fan at the game who personally gives the manager grief in the manner that appears to have happened today. And of course he boggles the mind at times with his decisions. Not who he is though. We know his personality and the difficulties he has had.

I remember much worse times than we are having just now.

People seem to be of the opinion that Lenny lets the players play poorly without telling them off or letting them know that it's unacceptable.... I cannot believe this for one second, especially the type of guy Neil Lennon is, he always demands the most out of the players around him from when he was a player and I'm sure he does just the same when he's a manager.
