He gave the ball away atleast twice that i can remember by trying to take on players. Not what you want a cb to be doing tbh.

you cant blame ambrose tonight, far too many players were unfit or hiding...we lacked pace and width tonight and thats what cost us, benfica were there for the beating.

    I'm not picky.
    I agree.

Matthews lost the ball in the first half which lead to their first goal and Wilson was caught ball watching which lead to their second but it's Ambrose that's getting it in the neck :56:

I thought this too. Hard to believe it was a CL match with so many empty seats. I know the recession is biting hard but I would have imagined Benfica fans would have been well up for tonight's match - the season ticket holders at the very least.

Massive sections of empty seats at the ground tonight - most surprising. Were we missing something?

Kelvin Wilson was the best player in the whole team.

Ambrose - * raped by Hola John out on the right, and bamboozled by Oscar Cardoza - both of which were redeemed by Adam Matthews and Fraser Forster.

Sorry, can't say fair and square. I thought they deserved it, BUT.....THe ref was abysmal. They, imo, were ( can't sugar coat it) diving, cheating wee *.

I personally think that Portuguese teams are some of the worst.

Anyway...........We MUST win our next game. Bottled it big time tonight.

Are Portugal not in a worse state than us in terms of economy?

I thought Provan may have been right in saying that their fans might have gave up thinking they were going to get beat tonight.

I agree, i cant believe there are people who genuinely believe that defenders wont make mistakes if they are constantly under pressure.

Such an annoying game tonight. Get those players back, get them on a pitch and * teach them how keep possesion instead of aimlessly hoofing the ball up the field every time. Very dissapointed in the tactics tonight and Brown and Hooper were quite obviously nowhere near fit. We have plenty of options so * use them. Apart from that goal, Samaras was extremely poor as were Ambrose and Ledley who hasn`t impressed me this season at all tbh. Kelvin Wilson was massive once again, great to see the big man playing with so much confidence. Absolutely no link up play between midfield and attack again as well. This needs to be addressed, hopefully it will be with the return of Stokes. The final game is going to be very tough. I think Barca will beat Benfica but Spartak will have nothing to play for and will be all out attack but we will get through I think. The tactics let us down tonight

I knew it was just a matter of time before Celtic had a new scapegoat.

I dont think we have went a solid month without one player getting massive undeserved criticism/abuse from the masses.

About the same as or doing a little better than Ireland. But still. Massive swathes of that stadium were inhabited only by tumbleweed. Worst competitive CL attendance I can remember.

We can't be giantkiller every game, or else we wouldn't be underdogs and you woulnd't be getting 10/1 on Celtic wins!

When you go away from home to a team who has been in the European cup final 7 times and made the quarter finals just last year, you're more often than not going to get beat.

Remember everyone we are the 4th seeds in this group, so statistically and accroding to the big uefa bible of * that must happen in footy, we should be coming 4th with maybe 2 or 3 points.

Nah, we're 3rd with 7 and by the end we will be 2nd with 10 points.

    Not bad.

But yet Ambrose is getting it in the neck even though he never made any mistakes leading to any goals.

He wasn't the best tonight but he wasn't as * as some people are making out.

There were 47k there tonight, which is approx 11500 better than they got at home to Spartak.

And the BBC has it as 49k :56:

So when there are a few empty seats at Parkhead - mainly the away end - the Beeb knock 6 or 7k off our attendance, but when another stadium is half empty they add a few thousand on?!?

Excellent point and I hope that Ambrose is not abused in this way because he has been our best signing outside of Forster this season in my opinion. He's capable, consistent, reliable and actually gives a *.
