Messi will play against Benfica, if nothing else, he's still trying to break Gerd Müller's record for most goals scored in one season. I think he needs 5 more.

Yeah, I didn't think Watt played brilliantly tonight and I can see why Lennon continues using Scrappy Doo as a sub despite the clamour for him to start. Keep him hungry and keep him making the best out of the chances he gets.

I know they will try and give us a game as they have pride to make up for and if Aiden is fit he will right up for it but I just can't see us losing at all. We played very well and won away from home and we always do much better at home, so it should be a win.

It is impossible for us to play this badly again, just like it is impossible for Barca to lose 2 games in a row.

Against us? Certainly not as many out as tonight anyway, they had all 3 keepers injured ffs :smiley-laughing002:

This has probably been coming because of the risks he takes playing. Hope he comes back well but his long term career chances don't look good unless he is used sparingly like Ledley King is for Spurs.

We were leg weary, shocking in possession and absolutely toothless in attack.

Benfica won the game fair and square and it would have been a steal had we drawn, by * did we come close though.

We could have done a number of things differently but at the end of the day we have taken it down to the last game and we have a clear chance to go through.

I'm not too disappointed as I thought we'd lose tonight but I think its fair to say that was our poorest performance in this group stage. Just never really got going though we looked decent after Sammy scored though losing Mulgrew and Brown in quick succession pretty much wrecked our midfield.

Thought Wilson was outstanding on the whole apart from losing Garay for the winner. Ambrose gives me the fear at times, so clumsy with the ball at his feet. I think Hooper's lack of match fitness showed and in hindsight it probably would have been better starting Miku, Watt or Lassad.

Still, we've got Europa League at the very least and are in with a fighting chance of the last 16 going into the last game which I'm sure we'll win especially since Spartak have nothing to play for. Would be very harsh finishing third with 10 points! Hopefully we have Forrest back as we miss his pace.

I don't blame Lenny for playing Brown it's Broony's fault himself, he's too hard for his own good. Never admits to being in pain or injured he just soldiers through all the time when really he should have just agreed a few months ago to take a massive break, like 6 monthsd get surgery or whatever and hopefully come back brand new.

Manager never really got anything wrong tonight as he picked the right team and subs were decent, obviously if he'd stuck Paddy on we would have won 5-2 but you can't win everything!

Ermmm, away and take those green-tinted shades off.

We have been awful in many games over the last 3 years. We beat what is put in front of us domestically, but that is not too much to shout about.

St Johnstone, Kilmarnock, Dundee Utd and Ross County this season alone.

If you watch teams from the "smaller" countries in europe, they all seem to have a bit of technical savvy and belief going forward. We have been remarkable in the CL this season, but all-in-all this season I think we have been underwhelming, and that is me putting it as nicely as humanly possible. :icon_mrgreen:

Hope he gets the help he needs and doesn't rush back only to break down again.

Udinese, Rennes, Helsinborgs, Helsinki, Barcelona, Spartak Moscow...

Many more domestically as well, we are a young, good team.

Green tinted specks? Nah mate, I just know football and bad teams don't perform like we have in Europe's flagship competition. Despite getting beat by a natrow margin away from in Europe.

+ 1 well said. What does Joe Ledley do also in our team (The invisble man) If Watt is good enough to play and score v Barca why the * is he always dropped. Hooper was'nt fit. getting fed up with these Jeckyl & Hyde performances.

Looked tired and heavy legged, very nervous on and off the ball. The lack of creativity was painful to watch. FF was brilliant again and saved us from getting embarrassed. But still got faith that in 2 weeks against Moscow we'll do it.
