lenny picked two unfit players today which was a bit short sited. we really miss forrest and izzy and we need a cm who is gonna put his foot on the ball. i fear we a becoming a total route 1 team, a bit of a stoke...

it was always going to come down to the last day,i dont know why everyones so worried,barcelona comfortably beat benfica in portugal,i will be very very surprised if we didnt get a result at home against spartak

I honestly don't think Barca are going to play a B team, they might rest some players, but I think they'll still play some of the stars, especially since they're at home, just hope they do the business and we do the same.

 

Yeah, the ref was pants, but we were abject.


The only good thing is that any scouts watching our players will think more than twice about buying them now. But to be honest if they continue to play like this I'd sell the lot of them. Apart from Forster.


Benfica were superior in every department. It's games like this that really show the discrepancy between the SPL and europe. The lack of ball retention and decision making on the ball is crystal clear.


Maybe the occasion go to some of them after the Barca result, but they play for Celtic and performances like that are not on. What we have achieved is remarkable in the CL this season, so maybe I'm expecting too much; I just don't lnow. I find it extraordinary that players at this level can't keep the ball for more than 30 seconds.


I'm like stressed Eric every time I watch Celtic these days.

I'm not going to outright blame the referee for our loss but you are right, blew his whistle far too much and booked Wanyama because he allowed himself to be fooled by simulation play.

I thought we were a bit robbed tonight to be honest, I think if Matthews didn't make that mistake it would have been a lot more difficult for them to build momentum and create chances. Very Unlucky not to take a point from that game and leaves a horrible taste in the throat. If we can take care of Spartak again I'm confident Barcelona can do the same at home as long as they field a regular team.

 

No happy. We didn't play to our capability. Some really below par performances. But, they did play well (and dive, cheat, greet, and played the usual Portuguese tactics).

No, this is the celtic v benfica match threadmand this is what we will look at. The players deserve to be criticised because they were pish.

We were poor enough tonite. The team looked tired. We ddin't have the same hunger as we showed against Barca in the previous 2 games. Big Victor will be a BIG loss for teh final game. We need to make sure we make Celtic Pk rock against Spartak. I cannot see Benfica winning in Spain. They may get a draw meaning we need to win .

 

Whatever happens at least we will still be in Europe after Christmas and although things don't look as great as they did before the start of the game, I would much rather be in this position than be in Spartaks position and lets face it when the draw was made the majority of us were hoping for 3rd at best.
