He is not better than Sandro. Arguably one of the EPL's best players last season before his injury.

Southampton have came a long way in a short time. I hope use continue to do well and if you want to give us 10 million for Wanyama then we will happily take your money. You don't have to come on here and show us your clubs plans for training grounds and stadium expansions. Southampton will always be a middle of the road English club. I appreciate use are trying to do something and good luck to use but Wanyama will only be joining Southampton for the money and PL football and maybe a stepping stone to a better/bigger PL club.

    A few points...

    - They have Gaston Ramirez on over £60k p/w

Southampton in their first season after promotion averaged 30,874 and their owners have plans to raise capacity to 45k to 50k as I highlighted earlier.

Celtic do not average 60,000, last season they averaged 44,964!

Waynama if he joins Southampton will get to play domestic away game at Arsneal, Chelsea, Man Utd, Tottenham, Man City. If he stays at Celtic he will be playing away games at teams the size of lower 2nd tier upper 3rd tier English clubs.

Hooiveld won't be a starter for Southampton. Saints have just signed Dejan Lovren from Lyon for €12m and also have Maya Yoshida and Vegard Forren.

Fox is not the first choice left back at Southampton, Luke Shaw is.

You missed out another ex Celtic player at Southampton!

You also overlooked the number of good players at Southampton - Schneiderlin, Shaw, Clyne, Cork, Lambert, Lallana, Rodriguez, Lovren, Ramirez etc

Why are you dismissing their chances of ever winning a trophy, if they continue to recruit players as they are then they have a reasonable chance of winning a trophy.

    Last season...

    FA Cup - Wigan Athletic
League Cup - Swansea City (with finalists 4th tier Bradford City)

If they can do it, why couldn't Southampton if they sign players like Wanyama?

Again why rule that out? Many of the points from my previous answer address this aswell. Southampton have been in Europe before and given the position the club is now in I certainly wouldn't be so quick to rule it out again.

New it wouldn't belong before we had yet another fan of a BPL team join and tell us all about his "ambitious" club. The rate these claims are thrown around every club in England will have won the league in 5 years time.

Exactly man. Southampton are a small club in England but they are a Premier league club. They obviously have a good infrastructure/facilities when you look at the players they produce. Wanyama would certainly improve as a player there playing PL football week in week out.

Yes, but they still play infront of those crowds on Champions League nights.

Do you honestly believe Southampton will fill out a 50k seater stadium? Realistically I mean and I'm not slagging you off, I'm being genuine.

By the looks of it Southampton are being fiscally wayward with the cash and are looking irresponsible. Imagine if Southampton got relegated?

The club would be in the doldrums. Remember Portsmouth and Leeds? :smiley-laughing002::smiley-laughing002::bbpd:

    On what is that based?

This isn't the Southampton of the 1990's at the 15k capacity Dell with owners that didn't invest in the team.

The Markus Liebherr trust are heavily investing in the 1st team squad, stadium, training ground and academy all with the intention of challenging for Champions League football relatively soon.

Celtic averaged 45k last season as Champions, Southampton averaged circa 31k in a 32k stadium and were 14th. The owners have plans for a 45k to 50k expansion and if the club can max out 32k in a relegation fight, what could it do if the team was actually invested in?

This summer the press have linked the club with the likes of Victor Wanyama, Pablo Osvaldo, Ever banega and Dejan Lovren (who has now signed).

As I've said, it is foolish to write them of a "diddy little middle of the road English club". Big things are happening.

Start reading this stuff mate :smiley-laughing002::smiley-laughing002:

We though the moonbeams over at Ibrox were bad.

Remember when Hearts were going to win the Champions League under Mad Vlad, well Southampton are close to being a Champions League club apparently.

    Nice ring eh :56::56:

Well they say he only has 1 year left when its 2 - poorly written article.
Don't think I would believe that but I reckon Celtic are in talks with Southampton.

I very much doubt it. Look at the wording of the article. He's on holiday, has only heard things from the media but knows that the clubs have agreed a fee? Plus I think you would have to point out to Victor who Southampton actually are, can't imagine him knowing them as the 'Saints'.

How would you keep financing all this if the Liebherr Group left or if you were relegated? Do you reckon you can explore different revenue streams and increase your income like Chelsea and Man City have?

    Genuine question.

played in front of 60,000 at celtic park on 6 CL occasions last year...home league games usually 50,000 plus...( rearranged midweek games with attendances in lowly 30,000s brings the average down)

southampton have won ONE major trophy

maya yoshida was a player we passed on and you have a past it artur boruc ( legend though)

celtic are a strong, young CL side with real ambition...saints are ambitious and i hope they do well however i just dont think wanyama will agree to move to a much smaller club, dont see any appeal.

8 Champions League games (4 at Celtic Park) at most per year if Celtic make it beyond the qualifying.

Where as in the Premier League you play Man Utd x2, Man City x2, Liverpool x2, Chelsea x2, Tottenham x2, Arsneal x2 and others each and every season.

If we were challenging at the very top of the league perhaps. 40 to 45k is more realistic - and is similar to Celtic's average last season.

Southampton in a relegation battle sell out a 32,000 stadium regularly, so if at the top of the Premier League more would come, which is why they are looking to expand.

Southampton's last accounts posted a profit for the 1st half of the 2012/13 season. The club has no long term debt, it is turning a profit and has extremely rich owners. They are not the "next Portsmouth".

All the best then mate, I hope your owners' promises come to fruition - nothing worse when they don't.
