Defintely, if we can get a % of his future selling on fee then it would be a fantastic bit of business in my opinon.

With the likes of brown ledley kayal and youngsters like mcgeough etc we are well covered in the central midfield area. If Southampton offer 10-12 million pounds for Wanyama we should take it. If it is going to happen let it happen now though. We need to get prepared for CL qualification.

Southampton have made some quality signings. Going by their squad if they add Wanyama they should be mid table which is attractive. However as you say they aren't going to get in the CL. We still need to qualify though and that could be a factor in Vic's decision. If we were already in the group stages he might be tempted to stay. However when its money upwards of 10 million the board would probably push it through.

Because Southampton have more money, better infrastructure and more ambition than Aston Villa.

They aren't the "diddy team" a lot of Celtic fans think and have plans themselves for a Champions League push, expansion of the stadium and are already near completion on a major improvement on the training ground. Not to mention one of the best youth academies in the UK.

They spend close to £40m last season, have signed one player in Lovren this summer for €12m and linked with other big signings this summer like Victor Wanyama, Ever Banega and Pablo Osvalso.

Suggests they have big ambitions and seemingly the resources. I wouldn't dismiss them quite so easily as many on here have.

Ambition to do what though finish 10th?

Wanyama should move to a team atleast capable of winning trophies or playing in Europe.... Liverpool, Spurs or Everton. He's better than most of their centre-mids Lucas, Shelvey, Allan, Henderson, Livermore, Parker, Sandro, Huddlestone, Gibson. Only ones of any their centre-mids id say he wasnt better than would be Gerrard, Fellaini, Holtby and Dembele.

No the Liebherr estate has ambitions of Champions League football and have huge resources behind them. Even in a relegation fight the club average over 30,000. If the team was actually any good they'd need a far bigger stadium and the chairman has comissioned plans for 45k to 50k from AFL architects. The existing training ground has just had close to £20m spent on it as well.

Last year they spent close to £40m on transfers, so far this summer they have spent €12m on Dejan Lovren and are linked with Wanyama, Osvaldo and Banega. They will be looking for higher than 10th.

I wouldn't dismiss Southampton's size, resources and ambitions on here quite so easily as many on here have.

Wanyama might be impressed by both the wages he is offered, playing in a side that is spending big on players and the ambitions of the club...

Got to agree with Ted Bates here - Southampton would be a good move I reckon, especially with the new gaffer there. A natural stepping stone, I suspect.

Ambitious plans and nice facilities can't hide the fact that Southampton are a 3rd rate English team with no realistic chance of catching up with the big boys in England. Anything less than a top 6 team would be a backward step for Wanyama, on all fronts, except wages.

If we accept a bid, I hope, for his own sake, that he chooses a big name club with a realistic chance at winning silverware, or competing for European places. He is good enough to make it at any club in England IMO.

Of course Celtic are the bigger club, but Southampton can offer him more money in terms of wages, a better standard of domestic football and they do have European ambitions themselves with more money for transfers to improve the squad than Celtic do.

Celtic are restricted from significant further growth, Southampton are still very much on the rise. That may appeal to Wanyama, who could then once proven in the Premier League have another move to a giant of world football.

Its easy to SPLASH the CASH in the EPL but its building a solid team able and capable of winning games that's the hard part. In all honesty Southampton are a mid table club i just don't see them finishing in the top half of the table. Consistency has always been the major downfall for Southampton and i wouldn't say they were much better than Aston Villa considering both teams finished on the same points last season and were probably 2 losses away from relegation.

On that note, although Southampton may have big ambitions could Wanyama be taking a major risk and find himself in a Relegation battle ?

I think he would be guaranteed game time from the off at Southampton, and they would be able to turn a good profit on him within 2 years of EPL football. I love the guy to bits as a player - have done since day 1. However, I don't see him as a guaranteed starter at a top 4 EPL club at the moment.....as I say - Southampton are a club on the rise, looking to play good football, and I think Pochettino would be superb for his development at a time when all he needs is games week in week out, playing against a higher calibre of player, week in week out.:50:

If Saints sign players like Wanyama, Banega, Osvaldo combined with current players like Lovren, Ramirez, Clyne, Shaw, Schneiderlin are they really going to be that far behind the likes of Everton? The gap is closing and Saints have better infrastructure and more resources than Everton. As I said, don't dismiss them quite so easily.

Wouldnt begrudge Wanyama a move to Southampton as they do seem ambitious and will likely improve on last season with some very good signings. However, I'd be pretty disappointed if he went there and was involved in a season long relegation battle, which isn't what I expect from Southampton though.

I think Southampton are going to be brilliant next season but I want him to go to Arsenal for purely marketing reason because it makes Celtic look like a great stepping stone but if he went to Southampton or like a Swansea as Ki did then it would make Celtic looking like a stepping stone to a stepping stone.

Spain, Italy or Germany would be far better for his development.

I think Southampton would be an ok move for a couple of seasons. Two years there and he would still be only 23! As for the future plans Ted is talking about, sounds exciting for the Southampton supporters, but I highly doubt Wanayama would be around long enough to enjoy it, he would be there for a couple of seasons at the most before moving onto a bigger club. He is easily good enough for almost all of the teams down south, he would walk into a Liverpool or Arsenal. If I was him I would stay for one last crack at the champions league.

even if they do offer 12m, they would need to offer him HUGE wages to get him to go from playing in front of 60,000 at home scoring big CL goals for one of europes biggest clubs, to lining up with celtic rejects such as hoovield and fox (*shudder*) in front of 25,000 for a club that will never win a trophy or play in europe.....

he will hold out for a proper move, he deserves better

Surely he won't go to Southampton...

I would have thought that one of the bigger mid table EPL clubs like Everton or Spurs would have been interested in him. At least that's a step up from Southampton.

Used to think Wanyama would hold out for a decent club. Even if he went to the likes of Tottenham or Everton before the 'big' clubs, I wouldn't mind. However Im starting to believe he would move to Southampton.

The agents of African footballers are greedy, greedy men. They sway the minds of these young guys and make them believe money is the be all and end all. Obviously these guys growing up in poverty will want as much as possible and as soon as possible, therefore he way be swayed by Southampton. They could probably afford £40k a week.
