That was absolutely gutting. Then on the other hand it was fantastic. Sure we lost, but we hung with Barcelona, the best team in the world right now and possibly ever for 93 out of 94 minutes. Find more than maybe 5 teams that can do what we did and I'd be surprised. Another part of this was that this was at Camp Nou, which gave Barcelona that much more of an advantage. I'll be honest, when the 2nd part of this two game series comes around and they have to come to Celtic Park, I'm almost expecting something fantastic to happen.

I genuinely don't think we set out to defend at all. We literally had no choice. When you play a team that good it would just be stupidity to keep your natural shape.

 

The official website will always be biased in favour of their own club. Celtic are the exact same. Infact, I often cringe at how biased the commentators are on CelticTV.

I think we desrve great credit not only for the result and the way we defended but the fact that we didnt even receive one yellow card. I was a little worried before the game we would end up making silly fouls and taking messi out of the game with crunching tackles but we played cleanly and the game was played in good spirit with no cynical fouls.Looking forward to the return leg.

But dont get me wrong there is a lot of people on here that slated chelsea last season and rangers a few seasons back for the same thing! Wonder will they feel the same about our team?

 

rangers did it for every single European match they played and dosent it show how good Barca are when Chelsea a team that cost what upwards of 250 million do park the bus, we actualy tried to play when we did have the ball but were forced back everytime.

 

We at least attempted to go forward the rare times we had the ball. Also it's 'Champions' league so in theory, Barca don't deserve to be there. Fud.

 

I've said it before this anti football talk is a load of nonsense, managers and fans of teams like barcelona expect other teams to come out and attack them, its the height of arrogance and they start getting all bitchy when things don't go their way and decide to blame the oppositions tactics.
He claims it wasn't nice to watch but i can guarantee it would have been a thousand times more entertaining than a routine 5-0 win. Both sides were on the edge of our seats in the final minutes.
They don't have a * given right to tell another team how to play a football game, football is a tactical game. Barcelona are so good at attacking that it's almost impossible to attack them without getting heavily defeated.

 

Don't exactly know what that * expected us to do? Go out guns blazing without the ball, would have been tanked.

Far too many people forget that football is just as much about keeping the ball out of your net as it is putting it in the back of the net, defending is just as important as attacking.

 

Dont we say the same thing when teams come to Celtic park and park the bus?? I for one was hoping Chelsea got hammered there last year for the way they played out there and was bealing when they got a result but when its your own team you just accept thats the way you have to play them otherwise you could end up on the wrong end of a 5 or 6 nil defeat.

 

right enough of the we were brilliant craic we still lost the game does anyone else think lennons subs were a bit off, i mean when samaras went off was brown really the best player to go into the advanced role, why was commons not brought on then when our midfield was playing well
also hooper wasnt good last night ,amongst other things when ledley bust through the middle in the second half he didnt even make a run for him ,it was clear it just wasnt happening for him. i think miku should have been on if not for samaras earlier then for hooper surely having played in spain for so long he was the man for the job

 

More than anything, IMO, Schuster is a hypocrite...He pulled the same sort of tactics and employed Mourinho thuggery when he was at the helm of RM

I find it a bit rich of him, although being a Madridista it's possible it was more intended as a slight against Barcelona's win

 

What the * does he expect us to do? What would be the logic in going there and going all out attack and losing the game 5/6-0. If we had a team capable of matching Barcelona then fair enough, but we don't, no one does so will have to get men behind the ball, and frustrate them.

 

There is a difference though, Celtic's team cost under 15 million to put together, Chelsea's cost over 200 million. Thats why Chelsea were lambasted for their tactics.
