Hit the nail on the head. Nice touches don't win games.

I'm not in love with Miku at all - there is no good way of knowing whether he would have succeeded here or not. That's the point. You're the one who has jumped to a conclusion here, not me.

As for "generalisations" - let me make my previous post more clear.

You had said that you didn't feel Miku was "good" - only "skillful" - and expressed your confusion that certain (unspecified) others didn't seem to understand this. I was merely pointing out that to many people, skilfull and good are pretty much the same thing in a football context. I had hoped this might provide a lightbulb moment of illumination for you, but apparently not. :50:

    I'm not picky.
I suppose this because you said "if he scores all the morons love him rather than abuse. Probably all the idiots that didn't turn up" indicating to me that it's the people who either don't go or weren't there that say he's not good enough. If I have misunderstood you I appologise.

I can't comment on his efforts from my own point of view because I never saw the match against Arbroath, but he's just not impressed me any time that I have seen him (Barcelona match excluded). I can understand that it gets frustrating seeing certain players getting blamed when things aren't going right (for instance, I have seen some posts blaming Lassad or us not winning on yesterday :87:), but I don't think he would get an easier chance to show this supposed class of his than against a 2nd Division team.

While I'm not blaming Miku I just think it could be good for both us and the player to end the loan. He'll only get less playing time as well when Stokes comes back in January which won't be fair to Miku.

If he is class, though, why has he been loaned out so much? 5 season long loans within the space of his 6 years at Valencia (the other year he was in Valencia's B team), so he's been given less of a chance there than here. I know he was only about 20 when he started getting loaned out while at Valencia, but you think that he would have started to get somewhere in their team, especially if he is class.

Cutting our losses rather than paying for a players wages we have on loan who will hardly get any playing time could be the best thing.

He was * on Saturday but I wouldn't write him off until he's had a run of games.

CELTIC flop Miku is heading for the Parkhead EXIT after barely three months at the club.

SunSport understands the striker is unsettled — and far from impressed Hoops boss Neil Lennon is happy to grant his wish of a return to Spain.
The Venezuelan, 27, arrived at the end of August on a season-long loan from La Liga side Getafe and was handed the iconic No7 jersey previously worn by Henrik Larsson.
But Miku’s been far from magnificent — managing just one goal in ten games and failing to shine even against part-timers Arbroath in the Cup.
It’s believed he feels his playing style isn’t suited to our game while he and his family also haven’t adjusted to their new life in Glasgow.
Ironically, two of his better games have been the home draw against Benfica and sensational win over Barcelona in the Champions League. But Miku is still seen as being behind Gary Hooper, Georgios Samaras, Lassad and top kid Tony Watt in the first-team stakes.
Now talks have started to terminate the current agreement with Getafe, although it’s unclear yet if his registration will have to remain with Celtic until at least the January transfer window.
Meanwhile, Hoops legend Artur Boruc is coming back to Celtic — as a fan.
The Polish keeper, now at Southampton, will cheer them on in Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Spartak Moscow.

I reckon it's a shame, but it suits everyone if he goes back to Spain. Lenny wants another striker in, so it frees up a place. I'm happy he's going and not because he's not good enough, it's more that he's too similar to players we already have.

Some players just don't work out. As long as he returns to Spain and we don't hear any snidey comments from him once he's gone then I wish him all the best.

I know he didn't get a lot of game time. However, any time he did start, did he do enough to merit a place in the side the following week, probably not. I was excited when I heard that we had signed him but he hasn't lived up to expectation. It's understandable that players take longer than others to settle, but we have the option to buy him for £4 million at the end of the season. He had to impress in the time he was going to have here and he just hasn't done that. Nothing against the guy, wish him all the best but it just wasn't going to happen in Scotland for him IMO.

Thought he was incredibly poor on Saturday. Didn't look interested at all. I just don't think he's enjoying his time in Glasgow and probably needs out. He definitely shows signs of quality, just think Celtic is the wrong fit for him.

Aye I think we're the wrong fit for him and vice-versa. For quite a big lad he doesn't like physicality which unfortunately you have to deal with playing here, for right or wrong. Even in Europe he failed to win a header against Benfica, though he did relatively well against Barca.

Preferred Lassad from the first appearances of the two, and haven't changed my mind :50:

I'm leaning more towards this view after looking objectively at Miku's performances so far with us, and his history elsewhere.

For a striker Miku seems to have an alarmingly low goal-to-game ratio: 65 goals in 233 league appearances in Spain, or a scoring rate of 27.9 per cent. At Celtic he's only managed one goal in ten appearances (10.0 per cent) and so is well below even his expected low rate.

The only times in his career where he even approached a normal striker's scoring rate were two spells at a Spanish second/third tier club (Salamanca), seven and three years ago respectively, when he managed goal-to-game ratios of 50.0 per cent (18 goals in 36 matches) and 40.5 per cent (15 goals in 37 matches).

Just to put Miku's goal drought into perspective: Hooper - who has come under a lot of justified criticism of late - has a goal-to-game ratio of 63.2 per cent.

Miku is simply not a reliable goal scorer and therefore he's not what we need.

What is wrong with you? 24 goals in 85 La Liga games for Getafe is an outstanding record for players we can realistically target. 12 in 38 last season is even better.

Do you know what Stokes' record in England was? The majority of games played in the second tier? 4 goals in 61.

No it's not. It's a poor goalscoring record - from a poor player. People (myself included) were saying when we signed him that he didn't have a great goalscoring record and he probably wouldn't be as good as some hyped him up to be. Well, looks like we were right. He's just not good enough for Celtic and no matter what excuses anyone makes he never will be.

No call for that sort of obnoxious response. Nothing's wrong with me - we just have different opinions.

Now, as to your point: I said before I liked Miku but the reality is that he has a very low scoring rate for a striker.

I take your point about Stokes and other players having low scoring rates but Miku has always had a low scoring rate, he's only intermittently shone in the Spanish second tier and he's been on loan for most of his career.

These are not the ingredients of a bright future for a striker.

What on earth makes you think that last season's tally of 12 goals in 38 games is a low rate in La Liga? You clearly don't know what is a standard scoring record for a player in the top leagues. Let alone the SPL, in which Stokes managed 12 goals in 33 games last season. When it comes to top leagues such as the one Miku was playing and flourishing in, Drogba managed 5 league goals in 24 last season for Chelsea. Suarez got 11 in 31. These are players we could only dream of signing. Shane Long, who has grown enormously in reputation since joining West Brom, got only 8 in 32 last season.

In fact, last season players such as Welbeck, Odemwingie, Hernandez, Defoe and Bent all failed to match Miku's tally in their respective leagues. You do not know the standard scoring rate of strikers at a decent level.

If I say you're right will you stop being angry on the internet?

It may be so that a low scoring rate is not necessarily evidence of a striker being poor but in Miku's case one of piece of evidence alongside many that he's, er, not very good.
