An Italian series called Romanzo Criminale.

Sky Arts has just started showing the second series but the main plot is about how the first and biggest gang in Rome (The Magliana gang) ran the drug trades, kidnappings, gambling etc. based on real events. Incredible viewing! I advise anyone into gangster/mob films or series to watch this!

The Sopranos will always be my favourite. No matter what I watch in my lifetime.

Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy & Dexter are all fantastic but nothing will ever beat Tony and the boys.

    Fawlty Towers
    Mr Bean
    Allo Allo
    Dad's Army
    Father Ted
Goodnight Sweetheart (series 1-3, it went downhill after Dervla Kirwan left, although the second Yvonne wasn't bad)
Mad About You (Murray is the real star of the show)
    Rome
    Gilmore Girls
The Bill (circa 1983 thru 2001)
    Taggart
    Downton Abbey (Lush)

Most of the BBC's Austen adaptations are good. I enjoyed Emma with Romola Garai and Jonny Lee Miller.

Drama? Cracker, Our Friends in the North, The Wire. Sopranos gets an honourable mention, as does Boardwalk Empire.

Comedy? Too many to mention, but Brass Eye or Monkey Dust probably.

Would definitely rank it up there. Seasons 1-5 particularly, think the last few seasons weren't quite as good although season 7 had its moments. I have all of them on box set, one day I'll revisit them. Nothing quite like going through 5 or 6 episodes at a time wondering what will happen next. Although obviously second time round it wouldn't be like that.
