"Bhoys from the Dwarf"

I heard that the new series of Red Dwarf starts later this week. Can't believe it's been 25 years since the show started & heaven only knows how many times I've watched the various seasons down through the years.

Anyhow, anyone else looking forward to the long overdue next installment of this show?

Love Red Dwarf. Love it. Can't wait till the new season but I really hope I'm not disappointed.

Holy * - has it been that long?!

I remember my mate was a big fan of it and collected all the series on VHS and we used to watch them a lot. I may visit YouTube and see if the I can watch them again and have a wee trip down memory lane :icon_mrgreen:

 

Same here... My brother had them all on VHS & must have thrashed those tapes from watching, lol. My housemate mentioned that over the weekend they were doing a Red Dwarf countdown on Dave (though that doesn't really help you much in the US, lol). Am sure one of the infinite channels on TV over there will eb airing the show.

I have all the previous ones on DVD, wasn't overly keen on back to earth, have a feeling this will be better though

 

Agree. Was really disappointed with that. Hopefully this will be a return to form.

 

Absolutely love Red Dwarf, one of the best comedies ever. Thought the last series was pretty awful though, the one when they were back on Red Dwarf and the crew had been resurrected. Wasn't exactly bowled over by Back To Earth either.

The fact that the new series is on Dave instead of BBC and from the adverts for it I'm not expecting much but hopefully I'm wrong.

I have just looked into it and they done an American version of the program - Red Dwarf USA (original, huh? :smiley-laughing002 - in a pilot, which I think bombed. And just one look at it, I think you can tell why it bombed.

I don't think the original series ever hit the States here, but it's ok as I'll be able to (hopefully) watch them on YouTube

 

I've seen that pilot, was that ever crap. I remember Robert Llewellyn talking about it (he was the only actor from the UK one that was involved) & really slated the crap out of it.

It has been on TV in the States. I remember watching a few episodes when I was working over there, though I don't know if it has ever been on any of the main networks (CBS, NBC etc) - somehow, I doubt it.

 

Knowing my luck it will probably get shown on channels like HBO where you have to pay for more to watch them. I have just the basic cable package here and it's like Sky really - the more you want, the more you have to pay.

So I'll be out of luck if they don't put it on one of the "basic package" channels, but no matter cos like I say - there's always YouTube :icon_mrgreen:

Plus how are the inexplicably back on an empty red dwarf, no kochansky, and rimmer is a hologram again?

Seems to me they've tried to just go back to what it was and for me it didn't work. I hope the rest improves.

 

I actually really enjoyed it. A big return to form following on from the dismal 'Back to Earth' 3 episodes from a couple of years ago. There have always been some plot inconsistencies at the start of new seasons - sometimes explained, other times, no.

The Bhoys from the Dwarf are back!

 

I think I may have built it up too much for myself. I'm a huge fan afterall. There were some laughs, but it didn't feel right to me. Plus NO KOCHANSKY!!! She was gorgeous. And where would she go 3million+ years into deep space?ha.

I am pretty sure though that there will be better yet to come.

 

I thought it was pretty good. Not as good as its hey day but better than a couple of the dodgier later series. Used to be a massive fan when I was a kid so happy to see it back
