Cannot wait for this....raging I will miss it because it's an early kick off an I'll be at work. Tough one to pick a team for, how fit is Sammy, Ledley or Kayal after all being out for a few weeks? Matthews struggling also....
    .............................Forster.....................
    Lustig.........Ambrose.........Wilson.........Izzaguirre
    Brown........Wanyama........Ledley.........Mulgrew
    ..........................Commons......................
    ..........................Hooper........................

I think it's important we are solid an do not concede early. We would also have plenty of attacking options on the bench for a push in the second half.

If we can get a draw out of it then i will be delighted. I do think that we have a chance tonight, we seem to be much more suited to playing away in Europe with our current squad. This is a quality Spartak side that pushed Barcelona all the way at the Nou Camp. Being honest, i dont really know what to expect tonight.

    My Starting XI would be...

    ---------------------Forster--------------------------
    Lustig-------Ambrose-------Wilson-------Izzaguirre
    ---------------------Wanyama-----------------------
    --------------Brown-----------Mulgrew--------------
    -------Commons---------------------Samaras-------
    -----------------------Hooper-------------------------

Subs: Zaluska, Matthews, Rogne, Kayal, Ledley, Forrest, Miku

With brown, wanyama and mulgrew protecting the back four we should be able to withstand alot of the pressure which we'll come under.

I fancy a 1-0 win tonight with a goal from big sammy! Hail hail!

Yes most of the matches he plays on the right. And he most probably will play on the right if Emery doesn't invent smth new (in CL he is not limited by the number of foreign players on the pitch as in RPL).

But he has some freedom, for example D. Kombarov most of the time stays on the left, while McGeady starts on the right wing, during match he can go on the left together with D.Kombarov or be in a center. In RPL he has been tried as an attacking midfielder. It can be also that D. Kombarov will play as left defender, Ari start on left but then will change with McGeady.

They've won all 3 home league games this season mate, including one against Rubin Kazan who are no pushovers. The 3 games they've lost in the league have all been away ones. In fact, we should be expected to beat them in our home tie. Although they've recently won two away games on the trot they previously went 7 without a win on the road in all competitions. They also beat Fenerbahce at home in the qualifier.

Edit: It should be noted - positively - that Spartak's home European record (aside from the Fenerbahce game) is as bad as our Away record. 1 win in the last 14 Home CL games :50:

Considering Spartak's regular starting XI over the last month or so, the lineup would probably have been something like:

    Dykan

    Makeev - Insurralde - Suchy - Kombarov

    Carioca - Kallstrom

    McGeady - Romulo - Ari

    Emenike

But with the injury problems to key players such as Dykan, Romulo and possibly Emenike it might end up more like:

    Pesyakov

    Makeev - Insurralde - Suchy - Kombarov

    Carioca - de Zeeuw

    McGeady - Ari - Kallstrom

    Dzyuba

Speculation and nothing more on my part right enough.

    Counting down the hours already.

Really can't wait for the game. We are playing well right now but Spartak have some amount of quality. I honestly think it could go either way, three points would be massive.

It is definitely not beyond us to get the three points tonight. As long the defence stays strong and Sammy brings his A game I think we will win. There is a lot of quality in the Spartak squad but their defence looks pretty average.

really up for this one, got a good feeling today.

like its been said, if we can keep it tight for the first half hour then who knows from there will be massive for the team's confidence if we can get a point out there.
