I agree, we need to find a way to fit Hooper in as well as play with a target. I would do this...

    Forster

    Matthews Ambrose Mulgrew Izzy

    Wanyama

    Brown Commons Ledley

    Samaras

    Hooper

Have Samaras wander about between the defence and midfield; use him as the target, hopefully have him and Commons link up to play Hooper through who should be sitting inbetween there two centre backs a la Davie Moyes formation at the start of the season against Everton with Fellaini being the man between attack and defence and just hitting his chest with the ball.

Yeah - to be honest with you, choosing that team pained me. The thing is, Hooper won't (or shouldn't) start up front on his own, however. Thoughts on that?

The better - on paper - formation (for me, anyway) is 1 up front, and Samaras or Miku will best fit that bill.

If the former, however, I will inevitably start kicking bar stools in anger if he misses a couple of sitters and we go on to lose 1-0!!

I would give Hooper the chance to play upfront on his own. He has earned it and with the form he is on he will only need one chance to probably hit the net. Some well placed passes from Commons to Hooper is all he will need.

Samaras is a good left mid, not a very good striker, he will hold up the ball but given the opportunity probably wouldn't score.

Hooper's on fire. We nedx someone up top who will finish the first chance they get. Hooper is that guy. Granted, he plays better with a partner but he is in the form of his life right now.

That press conference was nothing short of an embarrassment.

Reading Roddy Forsyth in the Telegraph just now, and he too mentions a starting 11 close to my one in that Samaras would be deployed up front on his own to start, with Hooper being an impact sub. However, what the * does he know. Pure conjecture - just need to wait and see lads.

We'd get as many good crosses and shots on goal from a statue of McGeady lol

I know you were only jesting amigo, but this actually raises a valuable point - many people still harp on about a lack of end product from McGeady, but in his last 3 seasons at the Club, he scored well in advance of 20 goals and laid on in excess of 50, from recollection.

Which is actually very * good bearing in mind that in the first season of the 3 referred to above, he was only 21.

And he was supplying Samaras and Marc Antonie Fortune for the majority of one of those seasons and Big Jan's 4 goal season and an off form Scott McDonald for another.

No wonder the wee man got frustrated, lack of end product my balls. Put McGeady next to Gary Hooper and see how many assists he would have got. He set up 10 of Robbie Keanes 16 or so anyway.

Aye I was devastated to see Aiden go.

By the way Samaras up front on his own might be a good call for tommo btw.:50:

Don't think Wilson deserves to be dropped and don't think Ambrose deserves to be put into CL game on the back of two performances against Raith and the Well.

I'd want him in my team on the back of the fact he looks our most assured defender and Charlie Mulgrew looks our second most assured defender.

So looks good to me. Wilson has improved magnificently but I still think he can be a bit lackadaisical at times.
