Why has he left, or been sold by Fiorentina? Did Frey reclaim his place?

I only seen one or two games of him there so can't really comment on his time there, but if he was as good as you say why hasn't a bigger team came in for him?

Players often leave at the end of their contracts. It doesn't mean they weren't getting a game. Frey doesn't even play for them anymore. He kept 14 clean sheets in 36 games last season.

He was their #1 but left at the end of his deal.

Frey got sold because he couldn't get Boruc out the team.

Artur wanted to leave for a new challenge, Fiorentina wanted to keep him. Don't know why a bigger team hasn't came in for him but he was one of the top keepers in Serie A last year. Topped only by Hamdanovic really.

Abbiati and Buffon as well but he was * close.

He'll be a fantastic signing for Southampton if he hits his best form. Will be looking out for him on MOTD etc.

Good luck to him. A class act in his day!

I've not followed his career since he left Celtic, so no idea how he's been playing. I guess that if his current form is anything like his latter-day Celtic form, then he'll not be seeing many match days.

Bullshit, he was one of the few players who could hold his head high in Tony Mowbray's season.

    Remember this?

Aye exactly. The "Boruc was pish in his last two seasons here" myth that does the rounds on here is simply untrue.

He lost the plot when he was having a lot of problems in his personal life, last 6 months or so of Strachans 4th season in charge. He was here for 5 years though and the rest of the time he was exceptional.

I thought he was terrible for pretty much the whole of Strachan's last season in charge. He had a great a tournament at the European Championships in the summer of 2008 but when he came back to Celtic after that his head was elsewhere and he got out of shape. It was sad for me to see because I idolised him so much.

His form picked up again during the 2009-10 season though. I just think people jump to the conclusion that he was bad that season because he didn't play to the same high standard he did from 2006-2008. The fact is, his level of play from 2006-2008 was just exceptionally high. He was one of the best goalkeepers in the world during that period.

Any goalkeeper would have struggled in Mowbray's season with the suicidal attacking play we were trying to produce, leaving our defence so exposed.

He wasn't as good but he was still very, very good for me. I think the first 6 months you could see he was begining to struggle but the form of the team itself kept him playing at a high level. When the season began to fall apart though he went absolutely off the scales.

I wouldn't say he struggled, I just think as tactically niave and as gung ho as we were he just couldn't save them all. Kept us in plenty of games though.

I'd say he had a pretty poor game in the opening OF game in his last season and struggled a bit when he came back from injury around December - if I remember right - but quickly got over it. Was no where near as bad as WGS last year when he looked physically and mentally all over the place.

Done well at Fiorentina and I'd expect him to be number 1 at Southampton pretty soon.
