Honestly though, I don't think anyone can answer that question. Tactically we could blurt out a thousand different methods but on the night if he decides he wants to go past a player or score a goal, he just will.

I said earlier on to my mate if they end up with Alex Song and Mascherano in defence I would fancy Sammy running at them with the ball. They aren't centre backs.

Xavi and Iniesta will control the game. There is literally nothing we can do about that and may as well accept it but they rely insanely heavily on Messi for the goals.

So the question is simple, how do you stop possibly the greatest player ever?

You can't stop him, that's why he is the greatest player ever!

    I've drew a blank as well :56:

First time I've actaully been scared of a football team visiting Celtic Park.

The answer is you can't really, we have no one even near good enough to mark him out the game, and he is too good to just hack down, it won't work. We can only hope he is well off his game, the reality is he will probably score 3 or 4 goals over the 2 games, unstoppable

Are you serious? Aside from the fact Messi is unstoppable, even if by some miracle we put the shackles on him there are countless world class players around him who can make a difference.

I'm not saying we can't get something from the game (stranger things have happened) but we know already they will have the vast majority of possession and will dictate the tempo of the game.

It's important we respect them, but don't fear them. They can be 'got at'. If we remain fairly compact, press well as a team then who knows.

There's no point in hacking him down risking our players getting banned for vital games afterwards. Never know, we might get lucky at paradise with our 12th man atmosphere putting him off maybe just a little. Then if only we had Henrik to knock the ball into the net again in the last few minutes!

We hope he has one of those nights where he just can't score and concentrate on stopping Messi from definitely scoring? :icon_mrgreen:

Barca are that good that we can't even afford to double up on Leo. Need to treat him as just another member of that team.
