One thing for sure.. Wanyama will go right to the very top, he has found his level. He is an absolute force of nature, no one gets past him. What a talent

I'm telling you, with a full deck of cards, we can beat them in Lisbon.

    Players were brilliant tonight!
Think izzys having a tough time settling back in to the team, needs to sharpen up. Miku looks like hes been flung in at the deepend, but i expect him to get his confidence back next game he plays!

brown, wanyama, wilson were brilliant! the team did great!

Groups all open. dont see there being one easy game but i expect the players to show up each game!

Can't believe some of the negativity after this result, don't people have better things to do than to troll like that?

I can understand why some sections of you are not too happy with just a draw, but please bear in mind this is not O'neils or Strachans team in the CL this year, this is Neil Lennons team.

This is a great result not to get beaten by a team who are in this competition year after year.

Selling Ki was a mistake, when you look at the negative sides of today's game.

    Nice game, folks!

The 1st half was really balanced, not much chances of goal for both teams. On the second half, I think Benfica was a little bit superior, but the final result ends up being a fair one.

    The atmosphere was fantastic. Congrats.

Wish you luck for the rest of the games, except in Lisbon of course :50:

Not knocking the lads they did all work the socks off and the passion and desire was shown . Just like you said we lacked that cutting edge and should really have made more out the game .

We missed Sammy and Ledley big time tonight .

They are a really good side in their own right. Not the best it could have been, but a good result nonetheless, considering 10 of the 11 players starting tonight had never played in the CL group stages before.

If we can win against Spartak at Parkhead, that will bring us up to 4 points. There's a possibility we could win at either Benfica or Moscow, which would bring us up to 7 points and who's to say we won't shock Barcelona? Its a long shot, definitely, but there is cause for optimism, especially when you look at our injury list. They essentially had a full squad to choose from.

Not read the thread and I'm not going to.

Have people really been complaining? :smiley-laughing002:

I got a warning for debating with the doom merchants the other day, not doing it tonight.

I don't agree. Selling Ki made good business sense and tonight was a decent result.

I think we could take points off them in Lisbon too.

he didnt link up at all, he the only time he had the ball for more than a second was when he turned to pass it back, otherwise he would lay it off and then be unable to get into a good position, watt is faster and isnt injured why was he left on the bench, we were cryin out for him especially with forrest playing so bad

    CELTIC SONG (CLASSIC)
for a team that had little or no experience at this level, i think we can be proud of the whole team. remember we were up against a top European side in benfica, and you could see that in there passing of the ball. o,k, we can see Celtic used more force and determination than skill, but as the group stages go on, i can see this team rising to the challenge in the next games.
broony was immense, as was the rest of the team.
so overall this team looks like it could do well this year. :shamrock:
