Having this argument with my mate, He says Lennon is not as good as Strachan.

I realise he hasn't achieved yet what Strachan has, but I certainly have no doubts he can achieve it.

He plays better football than Strachan did, and also has a better win percentage. Thuogh obviously only managed just over half the time as Gordon.

I personally think he will be a better manager at Celtic than Strachan was.

I wouldn't say he's better than wgs just yet. But think he will be in the future. 3-4 years down the line

I think how we perform in the CL group stages this season will go along way to showing us what Lennon is capable of and if he can surpass the achievements of Strachan. Personally I think he will.

Our level of success in Europe in the coming seasons will be the answer to your question.

Lennon will certainly overtake Strachan's achievements domestically, whether or not he can make te last 16 of the CL remains to be seen but I'm fairly confident we will within the next three seasons. This season it might be too much of a task, but being in the groups this year and next should see us move up to pot 3 standing, and from there on I think we should be looking to qualify, and with a lucky draw make the quarters

I think he has the leadership skills to be a more successful manager in time, however he is not there yet. Also Strachan arguably had a harder task given that he was never truly loved by the support.

Will he be better? It's impossible to tell. The early sings are good, despite not winning the league in his first season as Strachan did.

The football under Strachan was only really bad in the final season, more so the second half of that season. I've always thought it was a bit of a myth that we were dreadful to watch under Strachan and fans often vastly over-exaggerate just how boring we were. It happens with every team though, just 10 days ago, we were dreadful to watch against Hibs.

Whilst statistics can be misleading, Lenny's overall match-by-match results are already better than Strachan's were, and they're not far off each other in the total number of games either:

    Strachan: Games: 182; Wins: 122; Losses: 28; Draws: 32; Wins (%): 67.03
    Lennon: Games: 122; Wins: 92; Losses: 13; Draws: 17; Wins (%): 75.41

Source: Wikipedia, so don't blame me.

Of course he will be better.

And he will praise Strachan when he surpasses him. I've no doubt Lennon learned a lot from, and greatly admires, WGS. As he does MON, of course.

It'll be hard. Strachan won us 3 in a row against a strong Rangers team; something MON couldn't achieve with our second greatest ever player in the team. Also reaching the last 16 and holding the champions of Europe to the very last seconds of extra time is some achievement. It will be hard for Lennon to better Strachan.

Lennon isn't better yet in my opinion.

But there's no shame in that. Strachan is one of our greatest ever managers afterall.

I would say Lennon is a better manager than Strachan though.

Lennon is building a young team for the good of the Club and achieving success. Strachan built an old experienced team and although he got success, its easier than to go with young players.

The Rangers Strachan faced werent that good either. The Rangers Lennon faced got more League points on average than the Huns Strachan was against.

Lennons Celtic also got more points in both seasons, than Strachans got in either of his seasons, even though Lennon built a brand new team - where as Strachan took over a Celtic with Balde, Lennon, Petrov, Maloney, McGeady and Hartson already in place.

    +1

Have to chuckle at anyone that says Neil Lennon is already better, he has to achieve a lot in Europe before that can be said to be the case. Unless they are talking about entertainment value or something other than managerial success. It's hard to let love for Neil not cloud judgement.

There's the potential to be more successful than Strachan was here.
