Win or nothing is what we need! Go out for a draw and we will loose. Its all in there unexperienced heads. The only game they had something to loose they played woeful in, and lossed lol

So the Europa league could be axed and the CL increase to 64 teams

Michel Platini has revealed plans to expand the Champions League from 32 to 64 clubs. In an interview with French newspaper Ouest-Ftance the UEFA President explained the reasoning behind the idea which could see the Europa League axed.
Despite the best efforts of UEFA the Europa League has fallen by the wayside as the Champions League attracts more and more interest, attention and sponsorship.
Celtic received around £1.5m for taking part in last season’s Europa League but can expect at least ten times that amount from participating in this season’s Champions League.
Reaching the last 16 of the Champions League would be worth at least £3m for Celtic with Platini concerned that the Europa League is being constantly devalued by clubs more concerned by their domestic leagues.
“We’re discussing it., we will make a decision in 2014.” Platini stated. ” Nothing is decided yet,” There is an ongoing debate to determine what form the European competitions will have between 2015 and 2018.”
Increasing the tournament to 64 teams is likely to be resisted by the most powerful European clubs who want a greater share of the income they believe they are attracting.
The practicalities of a 64 team competition would also be difficult to resolve and would require eight groups of eight of 16 groups of four. Since the Champions League started in 1991 it has been based on groups of four ensuring that every qualifier gets at least six matches.
At present all of the sponsorship and media income is centralised and paid out in accordance with the progress that teams make although there is a weighing system that pays out more to clubs from the countries that contribute the biggest broadcasting money.

2-1 to Barcelona. 2-0 to Celtic, Kelvin Wilson and Beram Kayal. You heard it here first. :50:

Going to be a raucous night in 6 days, lets hope it ends with Celtic in the last 16, i am confident we can do it, my problem is the onus will be on us to take the game to spartak, whenever we are under pressure we do make it difficult for ourselves.

Spartak are a counter-attacking team with good pace and quality up front, need to be careful we don't go gung-ho and find ourselves a goal down. Don't concede and i am quite confident we can score one or two goals.

I think we should go with this team for the Spartak game. 4-3-3 is the way to go. You don`t get overpowered in CM and it allows you`re full backs and front 3 to attack like *. We shouldn`t go gung ho though, Spartak could pick us off. Very quick team who can catch anybody out on the counter attack

    -----------Forster------------
    Lustig--Wilson--Mulgrew--Izzy
    ----------Ambrose-----------
    -------Kayal-----Ledley------
    Commons--------------Lassad
    -----------Hooper-----------

Would prefer Broony over Ledley but still not sure about his fitness although he looked OK when he came on against Hearts. Too big a game to take a gamble like that

Anyone know if our Spartak match will be on in Ireland, RTE or the like? Or will it only be Sky or ESPN?

Was curious cuz think we got some rare coverage on RTE for the Barca match, so was wondering if they might carry the Spartak match too on its heels, given the stakes.

    HH!

Just saw this tweet, so hopefully this is true.

@the_eriugena: Celtic v Spartak live and free to air on RTE Two for everyone in Ireland on Wednesday while ITV show Emmerdale #ByeByeITV

(My uncle from Ireland has been visiting the States, and he's been watching all the Celtic matches w/ me. He returns to Eire tomor, so was hoping the Spartak match would be on for him since he doesn't have Sky!)

This Arbroath result has put more pressure on us for this game on Wednesday. Another wake up call. We will do extremely well to get into the last 16.
