Who cares.....CHAMPIONS LEAGUE!!!

 

4 years since we've been in the Champions League, failed to qualify then progress from the Europa League. We have a mediocre squad. Why does everyone expect us to win both home games against Benfica and Spartak and take points off them away? Not a chance in *!

We finished third in a group with Udinese and Rennes. I'd say they are better than Spartak and Benfica. I think we'll either finish 2nd or 3rd depending on luck. Of course there's a possibility we could finish bottom but I can't see it happening.

I have watched them a lot, they play attacking football but play at a very slow pace, are quite open at the back. But have real quality up top, their striker Emenike is excellent, like a better version of Yakubu, Welliton, McGeady and Ari are also quality players. In centre-mid they are really strong, Carioca and Romulo are excellent players, tidy on the ball and good battlers. They also have De Zeeuw and Kallstrom. Left-mid, Kombarov is a dynamic player who gets forward and back and is solid, Bilyaletdinov is a clever player but doesnt have much pace and is quite weak. They are signing Jurado ex of Atletico Madrid, he is a good player too and can play on either wing or in the hole, hes a clever player.

In defence they are quite weak, they leave a massive gap between their defence and midfield and get counter attacked a lot. None of their defenders are that good, keeper is a good keeper but prone to the odd blunder.

I think we're now better this season than we've been in like 5,6 or maybe even 7 years.

Paradise is a fortress and I can only hope that our players will gain inspiration and give everything to the cause.

 

we have a chance for 3rd but we will be fighting spartak for it, I am just hoping we dont embarrass ourselves

we only have about 28 hours to bring in players. Hopefully we have 1 signed before tonight to help us through the CL.

 

Nobody's expecting anything ffs, can't everyone have a wee bit of optimism for once? We're capable of matching anyone at home in the CL, we've proven that in the past. We've also got a group of great young players who are hungry to prove themselves at this level. Add into that the fact that we've managed results against all of these teams in the past, including a draw away to Spartak and nearly a point away to Benfica when we were at our worst in Europe then surely, surely it's not too inconceivable that we might have a chance?

 

1 draw at home or away and 2 wins at home would go down a treat I couldn't complain about that tbh.

Same old, same old

Would have liked to see clubs that we have not seen in years or never played. Good draw for the guys who have never been to Celtic V those 3, would have loved the likes of Real Madrid or Olympiakos or Schalke etc, something different.

Do you reckon McGeady will start?
What would be your realistic predictions for both games?

 

We are already in talks with players and Lennon announced he is hopeful medicals will be done by Friday.

 

Celtic will do great if they end up in 3rd spot and go into the Europa Cup, no way will we get 2nd.
