    He's a showboating pacy winger and he will be trying to beat us.

    He polarised support when he was here never mind when he is an opponent. The first time our full back goes through him the crowd will be going daft, I guarantee it.

    That would be wrong not in Henrik's hero status but still a fan like the rest of us. Never left under a cloud and I would expect if picked to play he will be professional in his approach ... Just another good player for me never reached his potential .... good luck to him but hope we hump his team :icon_mrgreen:

    I'm really happy about the draw love playing Barca and the other two teams are decent as well.

    It'll be nice to see McGeady back at parkhead for a game. He should be treated with respect by the fans as he is a fan himself and also netted the club a £9 million transfer fee.

    Barca 0/1 points - Benfica 3/4 points - Spartak 4/6 points. Worst case scenario I think we'd get 7 points. Porbably not enough for second, but definitely enough for third. I think this is a very good draw and if you swapped Milan for Barcelona I think we could top the group.

    There aren’t a vast number of times when we’ve topped a Champions League group historically. There are a number of recent examples where we haven’t shown up in Europe and teetered around the bottom and other occasions under Strachan where we’ve been competitive for one of the qualifying slots. But seldom, if ever, actual group victory if I recall correctly.

    There has been no Man City like team overhaul at Celtic so I don’t see how group victory can be considered in the same context as a well fought qualification into the last 16 or unideally a completely abysmal showing and either no further European football or a shot at the Europa doldrums.

    I didn’t accuse you of arrogance but browse the previous and future pages of this thread and what is clear is the false syndrome regarding Europe we tend to suffer from (probably deriving from the O’Neill and Strachan years) has in recent times held no basis in reality. Progressing into the last 16 would be a massive achievement, it would not be a run of the mill, ‘expected’ happening as certain vibes are suggesting.

    dont see why we couldnt finish second!
    Spartak can be beaten at home, away would be tougher, traveling to russia, colder weather, no real experienced players, if we could skim a draw and a win from these two games.

    Benfica away will be hard, but at home we could win against them.

    Barcelona would take a miracle to win away, at home would also take alot of counter attacking and luck!

    i think this will be a really competitive group!
